Charlie’s is inside Walmart at the grocery entrance. They opened in July 2022. I decided to try the regular Philly cheese steak sandwich, which ended up being almost $11 with tax.
It comes with mayonnaise, mushrooms, lettuce, provolone, grilled onions, green peppers with tomatoes and 2 pickles on the side. I skipped the peppers and wish I had skipped the lettuce too.
The preparer forgot my mushrooms, very disappointing.
The pickles were delicious, the tomatoes faded, too much lettuce which thankfully fell out and just enough mayonnaise. The beef I’m on the fence about. I got a little flavor when I found some of the bark but otherwise it was pretty bland. And on the other hand I got plenty of cheese and onion.
I may try the old fashioned Philly cheese sandwich next time but I’m just not a fan of cheese whiz.
Here in Phoenix it’s hard to find a good Philly cheese sandwich I knew one place but they closed up over 10 years ago, oh well. I’ll keep looking.

We’ve ordered from Charley’s several times and usually enjoy the food but everything else needs help.
The staff isn’t trained for customer service. You go to the counter and have to wait several minutes before they acknowledge that you exist.
We usually have to wait at least 30 minutes to get food, and that’s even on slower days. We started ordering on the app, hoping that helps speed up the process but it doesn’t.
The music in the restaurant is always too LOUD. You have to yell at each other to communicate.
We enjoy the food but there is a total lack of leadership and training on behalf of Charley’s management/owners.
Update. The processing speed of the orders improved (seemed to be more people working there finally). We ordered the regular Philly, which was great, and a buffalo chicken Philly, which had very little chicken and sauce. Just hoping for more consistency and awareness from staff when making food.

Inside a Walmart but it’s nice and quiet. I’m from Buffalo NY. Land of original wing and I spent a lot of time in Philly. I was delighted when the cashier asked if I wanted any ranch or blue cheese. Buffaloians use blue cheese… very good wings sweet teriyaki. Could have lived without the sesame seeds, but very good.

I was so happy when this location opened. I love the Charley’s at Christown. They are top notch. This location? Terrible. The tall dude that works there threw a fit because I asked for a side of Buffalo sauce. The girl working cashier was the only one actually working. The fries were cold because they sat there while the sandwich took forever to get made. Came home and saw the tomatoes had MOLD on them. The meal was tossed.

My wife ordered a regular Philly cheesesteak with no cheese but instead Philly with a roach in the meat . Disgusted we returned to the counter to address the problem and a member of the staff had the nerve to offer to remake the order as if anyone would want to eat anything from there again. The young manager issued us a refund. But the fact that we had to experience such a nasty service is saddening.

We order from this place a lot and we’ve never hade a complaint. The food is GREAT and the sandwich is packed with toppings.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. A woman, possibly named Alex, refused to remake our sandwich after it was made incorrectly. My sister has a mushroom allergy, yet the sandwich still came with mushrooms. When we explained the situation, she was incredibly rude and dismissive, insisting we would have to pay for a brand new one instead of correcting their mistake. She argued with us, showed no concern for the allergy issue, and ultimately refused to remake the sandwich. Completely unacceptable behavior—absolutely would not recommend this store.

Used to work here and the food was always amazing! Now trying it for the first time in a couple years I was again disappointed because I asked for grilled banana peppers and got grilled jalapeño’s instead which has happened before in the past last few time I came here! I’m currently pregnant and didn’t want something spicy and banana peppers give me the satisfaction I need with them being slightly tangy with a slight spice and was extremely disappointed when I got jalapeños. I still ate it as I was feeling a bit nauseous from having an empty stomach outside of that it was good!
