Reviews
The food preparation, prices and bar/waitress service is fantastic
It is a busy restaurant so to be sure of seating call ahead
Our server, Barbara, was excellent. She was friendly and made suggestions on food and drink.
My husband and I had a beer. It was ice cold.
I love French Dip sandwiches, but they have to be right. Deborah said their French Dip sandwiches were the best she had ever had, and their fries and onion rings were the bomb.
As Barbara suggested, I went with the French Dip with fries. My husband ordered the 9th Hole Burger with Onion Rings.
The French Dip was outstanding—shaved beef, flavorful au jus, with horseradish sauce on the side (a nice touch). The fries were hot, super crispy, and salted perfectly.
The burger was juicy and medium rare. The stars, in my opinion, were the onion rings—not tempura battered, but that real crispy corn batter kind. They were so good.
The atmosphere made us want to stay forever, so we ordered a second beer.
Our lunches and two beers with tip was under $70. I would have paid $70 for the views alone.
The views of the golf course, water, geese, and golfers made for the PERFECT lunch date with my husband.
We will be returning here often. I can’t believe we didn’t find this gem sooner. I owe my friends a great, big thank you.
A series of performers each did 10 minutes of comedy, nice local talent!
Definitely try this place if you’re in the area!
Seating on patio is great, but the day we went it was filled with reserved tables for golfers or club members so we had to sit inside which still had a nice view, but there was a strong disinfectant smell coming in from the lobby which was not appealing and lost the atmosphere its 5th star, as did the too loud sound system once the band started up. There should also be more pauses between sets so people can carry on some conversation during those times, and/or some softer pieces. I love Dan Reed’s band, but I also come to dine and chat, so some softer, background music and lowered volume would be appreciated.
Our server named Ash was very efficient and informative, letting us know about the extra fish piece available for an additional $2.99, and the Happy Hour discount on the draft beer which is always appreciated. The fries were very crisp and we didn’t leave any, but the Steakhouse Chili at $8.99 wasn’t worth the price, although tasty. The fish was excellent, but since other local spots are offering AYCE for their fish fry nights, it’s a shame they don’t have that as an option, and I’d caution them to watch their prices or offer smaller portions for seniors since they are right on the brink of what I know my neighbors are willing to pay for a burger especially when drinks and tips are added in.
Also, why not bring in some interesting desserts or become known for something special that’s yours alone? It would be great to be known as the go-to place for a piece of your signature cake, something distinctive and something people will talk about as a “you gotta try it” item.
The atmosphere created by the two parties hosting the event brought positive and high energy to the patio and main room. Staff’s lack of personality, low energy, and emotional lability brought those levels down to mediocrity. Lack of attention by the clean up crew left me leaving without the brand new Standley Tumbler I brought in with me to ensure I stayed hydrated while consuming alcohol.
I will definitely be back. I would love to eat outside to view the lake and golf course.
Each of our 4 meals was excellent, served hot and all at the same time thanks to multiple staff delivering. We enjoyed French dip, walleye, fish and chips, BBQ chicken salad. The fries are amazing and drinks were strong.
Staff was delightful and more than one person passed by and ask how we were doing and if we needed anything.
We sat in the patio overlooking the golf course and caught a gorgeous sunset in the back ground. This was perfect because it happened to be Friday night with live music inside. We could still hear the music but also carry one conversations.
We didn’t know they closed at 8 (and reservations are recommended) but the staff never made us uncomfortable even though we left at 8:30.
4 people, 4 drinks total. Tab with tax and gratuity was $140.
We don’t live in the retirement community where the restaurant is (we live in another 8 miles away) but will definitely return!
