Great little coffee shop tucked into downtown Manteo, NC. They have limited food options, but what they do have is excellent. Bagels, pastries(on Friday), muffins. Definitely recommend.

There is something very special about this place, a great vibe & atmosphere. I’ve been to coffee shops all over the world but this one really does stand out. This might be one of the most tidy coffee shops I’ve ever visited and yet it retains a relaxed feel. The coffee & food is excellent as you would expect and the service is very friendly. I’m actually based in the UK but business brings me to OBX and Manteo multiple times a year. It’s an overtly faith-based business so perhaps this is what sets it apart in a world that seems increasingly based on dollar worship. ♂️ Either way gotta love their Coffee with a Cause prayer wall.

This was our favorite coffee shop in the Outer Banks. We enjoyed delicious beverages while we sat and caught up with extended family. We came back a second day on our trip for drinks while we walked the shops in the area. I particularly love their prayer wall and truly appreciate their faith-based approach to business. I pray that God continues to bless the ownership, staff and all who enter the door to this place.

Nice spot to grab a cup of coffee.. really nicely decorated place comfortable rustic & cozy. A cup of chocolate milk, a cinnamon roll, a small size strawberry smoothie & a croissant smashed with cheese & a piece of bacon was $19.34 plus a tip ( is a bit pricey) .. a nice treat one of the only places open during morning hours , offers a couple different types of muffins, a couple different croissants flavored with ham or bacon with cheese a few other items and cinnamon rolls.. Definitely a good spot to check out after taking a walk downtown.

I brought my toddler here, not realizing there was not a ramp for his stroller. However, a nice man was leaving as we got to the stairs and asked if he could help me lift the stroller. It was super nice of him. He may have been the owner… He was wearing clothes branded with Charis Coffee Company.
The man making drinks was very friendly. The place itself is very peaceful and uplifting. I loved the soft Christian music. And the prayer wall was just so special to see. It was very touching to see so many prayers and answered prayers, and being able to share my own was very comforting in a way.
I had a white owl latte which was amazing. I shared a cinnamon roll with my kiddo and that was delicious. So was the carrot coconut muffin I brought back to our Airbnb.
Thank you for being open early and during the “off season”. It was a blessing to us.

The coffee was delicious and shop was cute, but its overly faith based atmosphere including the music could make some patrons uncomfortable so a mention of that in the reviews would be helpful.

Ridiculously kind and generous owners/management! The coffee is tasty. They roast it all locally. The design/decor in the shop is also really tasteful done. They do a lot of good in the community as well. The baked goods are well done – especially enjoyed the lemon cinnamon roll. Will come back next time I’m in town.

This is probably my favorite coffee shop on the planet for several reasons! The owner’s story and their mission resonates with me, the location with its charming and relaxing character, the friendly staff every time I have visited, and the coffee of course!! This most recent time I ordered a “fresh” French press and was willing to wait for it, and so glad that I did. It was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had! Also during my most recent visit, one of the owners (Josh) was there and he took the time to talk with me even though they were fairly busy. If you make coffee at home definitely get a bag of their Hallelujah roast if they have it in stock (it goes quick)!!
I stay in OBX (Waves) every year and have drive 40 minutes into Manteo each year specifically to visit Charis. The bonus is walking around the town visiting the other shops.
