Cha Rice Thai is an absolute must ✨️
It is good for couples, friends and families for a relaxed meal.
The food is fresh, authentic, and consistently excellent.
It matches the pictures in the menu.
I would say the first time we ordered the wings 2 weeks ago; they were the best we had in their flavour profile. The second time not so much.
The soft shell crab was delicious and consistent and so where the other dishes. I am adding photos from the two visits together.
The service is warm and attentive, and the laid-back atmosphere is part of its charm.
What it doesn’t try to do with expensive décor, it more than makes up for with genuinely tasty food.
We’ve ordered from Cha Rice a couple of times over the years, recently dined in as a couple, and then returned again with our uncle and always a great experience.
They can get really busy so booking is advised. Service struggles to keep up sometimes but they do their best.
Sitting outside near the street was relaxed and not overly noisy, and it genuinely reminded us of our visits to Thailand.
If you’re looking for cosy, honest Thai food with great flavour, this is the place. If you’re after fine dining and polished theatrics, it’s probably not for you.
We’ll definitely be back.

food was actually tasty buy I wonder why we have to wait for 1 hour and 25 minutes, and it’s because they prioritise the delivery. it is not that hard to follow based on the order rather than ignoring a certain type of customer.
I realise about this when a new delivery guy got their food less than 15 minutes but we need to wait for an hour.
also we keep smell a burnt soy sauce while they delivering to the table which is carcinogenic.
there are so many customers that are not satisfied with this kind of customer service.
this is very uncommon to wait for 1.5 hours for just a thai food, especially this is not a fine dining.
we came around 6:50pm and they just gave us the appetiser at 8:27pm and main at 8:48m & 8:51pm.
they purely ignored they dine in customers and they prioritised they take away or doordash customers.
the shameful thing is, i brought my friend who came from regional area and he wanna travel overseas here and it wasted so much our time just to wait for the dishes

A very solid local Thai restaurant for both dine in and takeaway. Great spot for a quick solo lunch or dinner too. Nine times out of ten I’ll get one of their noodle dishes which are typically very generously sized. For a light eater, you might even have leftovers for lunch the next day, but I always finish the whole dish! I’ve been coming here for more than five years and over that time I have noticed the portion sizes can very rarely be inconsistent, but for the most part they’ve been a solid and reliable casual local restaurant. I can’t fault their food or their cooking, so for this reason I’m still giving them 5 stars and I also believe in supporting local businesses. Little inconsistencies shouldn’t be held against restaurants since we all have our off days! Their salads, curries and other Thai classics are all great too.

Five stars without hesitation. We were genuinely grateful that ChaRice Noodlebar was open on Christmas Day. There were five of us, and from the moment we arrived the staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The hospitality was warm without being overbearing, which set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable lunch.
The food was excellent. The salt and pepper tofu was a standout, crisp, well seasoned, and clearly fresh. The pork belly was equally impressive, cooked perfectly and full of flavour. Everything arrived promptly, yet nothing felt rushed, which is especially commendable given it was Christmas Day.
The atmosphere was relaxed, warm, and inviting, making it an ideal place to spend Christmas lunch. Pricing was fair and reasonable, particularly considering the quality of the food and the fact they chose to open on the day.

Cha Rice catered our 40th Jan 2025. We eat take out from Newport at least once a fortnight. It’s always fresh and tasty. We were looking for something different for our party for 85 people – mostly foodies!
Palita and Ploid were nothing short of AMAZING throughout the whole process, suggesting the best dishes that would be the freshest and best value. They suggested the best vessels for the ease of catering. They are very knowledgeable.
They were so accommodating and we have had incredible feedback since about the catering.
They were wonderful to deal with, so so tasty and well priced and so fresh on the night.
We HIGHLY recommend Cha Rice and wish them all the best in the future. We had Cha Rice tonight and remembered I hadn’t done a review yet that they so deserve!
