This is a cute little gem in the heart of Burlington. We wanted something easy to grab for lunch and this place fit the criteria. The name says it all and the food didn’t disappoint. I had the banquet burger which came with back bacon ( a very nice touch) and was delicious. With that I upgraded to a poutine and it was a great decision. Everything was well cooked and great taste. For a drink I ordered a strawberry milkshake. Talk about old school, it was delicious. I will be back and I encourage you to stop in. . The prices are very reasonable and service is friendly..
I will be back .. thank-you.

It was my first time here. I heard great things about the banquet burger.
So, I ordered the combo.
The place itself, not too impressive. It’s been around a long time…and it looks that way. All the workers were talking with each other and it was very loud and not a pleasurable atmosphere.
The food was ok. I wouldn’t drive 40 minutes again for it but it was a good enough burger.
The gravy was not something I’d ever order again…can’t recommend it to others. Fries were decent, but not anything other than a 3* in my opinion.

The definition of the ultimate delicious dirty burger.
The atmosphere is what it is – it’s a very old place that can be classified as a dive. The food is good and the burgers are delicious. They are messy! Fries are also tasty.
Parking has always been a problem. Does not really cater to dietary restrictions and the staff won’t know about it. Go there for a good late night burger!

Wow I never knew this place existed and we ordered in and was so surprised. The veggie burger was delicious, lots of different topping options, banana peppers etc. the Greek salad was so fresh and lettuce was crispy and lots of feta. The Greek fries had feta and a side of oil dressing. Everything was really good and I’m going to add it to my list of food deliveries. Impressed by the taste, freshness, variety! Did not rate service or atmosphere as we ordered for delivery! Food was fantastic! Hit the Greek craving on the head! Pic is half eaten as it was so good!

A rare gem among contemporary burger joints, this place has been delighting taste buds since the 1930s. I sampled their signature Banquet Burger Combo and I was floored. The burger was divine; the fries were equally good, if not better. The mood was electric, complemented by the superb service. The staff was affable, always welcoming each customer with a wide smile. A beautiful blend of the past and present, this place surely takes you on a nostalgic journey. Kudos to the hard-working staff who serve up such palatable delights, and all at very reasonable prices. Can’t wait for my next visit! Love ya, All ♥️ ✌️

A long standing greasy spoon style burger joint. The fries are fresh, handcut, and served unsalted – which follows their traditional way of serving them for decades. The bun and toppings were fresh and delicious. The burger itself was a bit of a let down. It tasted like a pre-made frozen burger you’d buy from a grocery store. The prices are really reasonable.

Cheeseburgers, milkshakes, fries, and poutine was all delicious at this downtown Burlington fixture. It’s hard to o be in Burlington for burgers and fries and not choose this location.
The burgers are well sized and flavoured, the strawberry shake had chonks of berries, the poutine has thick fries and squeaky curds. Two of our party found the gravy slightly too salty, and still totally edible.

I have been going here for a number of years and aware that the ownership has changed hands. The quality of the meat is good as is the portion size. The problem is the salad and the feta on the salad and the greek fries. What is that!!! The ‘feta’ is not real feta in any sense of the word. It is shredded something or other going by the name of feta. Feta is crumbled not shredded and it has a lovely strong taste – whatever that shredded stuff was on my salad and greek fries had no taste, it was dry and they put way too much on the salad and the fries. The consistency did not alter at all – which it should on warm fries and it should further crumble in the salad with the dressing. There were too many peppers and no onion on the greek salad. A little disappointing.

I had a great experience. The food was flavourful, fresh, and served hot. What really stood out was the customer service — the staff were kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. It’s clear they take pride in how they treat customers. I would definitely recommend Charcoal Pit to anyone looking for good food and a positive dining experience!

This is a local greasy spoon restaurant, the outside sign is not fully lit up and there is an old piece of wood outside the door as a ramp to get in. Looks very run down but I understand it’s also been here forever. The menu selection is ok and the prices are reasonable for the large portion of fries and salad. We found the fries very greasy tasting and there was no salt added not sure if that’s the norm. The burgers were good and I enjoyed the Greek salad. Not sure we would go back again in the cold weather as the restaurant is barely heated and I had to eat with my coat on!
