I recently visited Charcoal Eats in Katy and had a wonderful experience! The ambiance was lovely, with pleasant, calming music that made for a relaxing dining atmosphere. The service was excellent; the staff checked on us often, which was appreciated.

The charcoal paneer tikka was absolutely delicious, with the paneer being fresh, making it the star of the dish. The jackfruit biryani was delightful—mildly spiced and fresh, true to its Awadhi roots of Lucknow. The chicken Awadhi biryani was decent but could use a bit more flavor.
The chaas was refreshing, the kala khatta was fantastic, but the masala chai was just average.
Overall, a great spot for Indian food with a welcoming vibe! Definitely recommended place to dine!

We have been to this restaurant before and after the management changed. I feel the new management has made positive changes.

The servers were very attentive, and the food was fantastic. We ordered chicken tikka and chicken awadhi biryani. The tikka was especially amazing.
We also had kalakhatta, an unusual menu item that tasted really good.
Prices were reasonable. We are for sure coming again soon.

Tried Charcoal Eats for the first time. Ordered Hariyali Chicken, Veggie platter, Daal Makhani, Delhi butter chicken, Awadhi Chicken Biryani and naans. The Hariyali chicken unfortunately did not taste good. Was lacking flavor and salt. The other items were good. Daal Makhani was smoky and tasty. Butter chicken also had a lot of flavor as did the biryani. The restaurant was empty when we came in, but filled up quickly. I would suggest the management to fix the music system as it was very quiet and you could hear conversations around you. Also their plates are made of stoneware, and without any background music, it’s a lot of clanking on the plates. The service was great- the servers kept coming and ensuring that we were happy. Will come back to try the paneer dishes.

We stopped by Charcoal Eats in Katy today for dinner after doing some grocery shopping at Triveni Store nearby. First visit, and overall it was a great experience!

We ordered quite a spread:
• Palak Patta Chaat
• Chhole Aloo Chaat
• Paneer Tikka Masala
• Butter Garlic Naan & Butter Tandoori Roti
• Awadhi Kathal (Jackfruit) Dum Biryani

The chaats were full of flavor—crispy, tangy, and nicely balanced. Both breads were fresh, soft, and perfect for scooping up the curries.

What stood out the most was the Awadhi Kathal Dum Biryani—I tried jackfruit biryani for the first time and absolutely loved it! It had layers of flavor, just the right amount of spice, and that slow-cooked dum aroma that made it feel special. A great surprise and now one of my new favorites!

The only letdown was the Paneer Tikka Masala. The paneer cubes were well-cooked, but the gravy tasted more like a regular curry—spice-heavy and missing the creamy, rich texture you’d expect from a tikka masala. It didn’t have that silky finish from cream or cashews, which made it feel more rustic than indulgent.

Overall, I’d rate the experience a solid 4 to 4.5 stars. Great food, friendly service, and definitely worth stopping by—especially if you’re in the mood to try something different like the jackfruit biryani.

So we were looking for some new Indian restaurants online and Charcoal Eats Pop up. It’s not far from cypress, if you don’t mind driving 20-30mins.
So we had a nice lunch at this place.
The menu is pretty good and lots of verities.
From Beverages to desserts everything is covered.
So when we talk about Beverages we ordered
Kala katha & Mango Lassi. Both the drinks were very good. Really like the Lassi because it wasn’t too sweet it was perfect.
About the Appetizers we had Achari Paneer Tikka (Hot). It was delicious and if you think it’s really Hot Hot, no it wasn’t that spicy. It was mild spicy because my kids ate that too.
So kids got complimentary fryums & they loved it.
In main course we ordered Malai Kofta & Afghani Paneer Curry( Mild).
Paneer Curry was really different then other restaurants and we really liked it.
Malai Kofta it was delicious too.
We had Bullet(Chilly Garlic) Butter Naan & Garlic Naan.
Naan’s are crispy, not soft.
But some people like crispy Naan, so for them their Naan’s are good.
Service was great too.
Atmosphere is nice as well.
I really like their out door sitting area.
Songs choice is great as well. Lite & calm music was playing at the background.
Overall it’s a good experience.
Definitely recommend this place.

Savanna was an amazing host and waitress! I will definitely be back. I screenshotted all I ordered and when I tell you everything was amazing. But the heat I needed to be there, spicy. Maybe they didn’t want me to try it so spicy but I needed it. But everything else was worth every penny! I’ll be back!!!!

Great food, authentic taste and exceptional service.
Mango lassi was perfectly sweetened, paneer and chicken tikkas were tender and smoky. Tandoori Roti was crisp and fresh, Garlic Naan was soft and fragrant. Curries were also tasty and had the right level of spice.
Great addition to the Katy food landscape.

My kids wanted to thank the chef ‍ Abdullah for making such delicious dishes, specially paneer, it’s so soft! According to them this the best paneer they have ever had in Houston! ☺️
Thank you for keeping the authentic deshi taste alive and we hope you keep going!
