Very expensive.
And country, or chicken fried steak DOES NOT have brown gravy.
No wait staff to refill drinks. At $38.00 for country fried steak, and fish and chips, it’s outrageous. When the cashier told me how much, we almost left and went elsewhere. My wife said the fish had no flavor. I did not eat the chicken fried steak. They destroyed it with brown gravy. That goes on potatoes.

Seriously amazing food, I was blown away. I got the 1/2 lb. jalapeño burger, it was huge for one thing, and delicious. I enjoyed every bite, and it was a ton of food. Restaurant prices, $9-12 for a sandwich or burger with fries. There’s a burger bar so you can fix up your burger how you want it after it arrives at your table with quite a few options. You walk up to the counter to order, seat yourself and then your food is brought to you. The salad bar seems to be popular, three other people followed me up to the counter and ordered that.

I only go there on Saturday mornings for coffee. I last ate there 35 yrs ago and my burger was so greasy that it came back up. Not brave enough to try again. They don’t wait tables there either. You stand in line to order and pay at the same time. Today, it took me 20 minutes to get to the front to order a $5 pot of coffee. The staff is friendly enough, but a bit challenged, I think.

Interesting restaurant with cool decor and a very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the quality of the food doesn’t live up to the excellence of the serving staff. My fish sandwich tasted largely like Costco frozen fish fillets on a bun, and my wife’s teriyaki burger was much the same case. The facility is a bit worn-down, but not terribly so. Overall, a solid 3/5, I think. Value isn’t quite there for the price, but not terrible overall.

The atmosphere here is great. We’ve been here many over the years. Our young son loves it as well. The food is good, the atmosphere is good and it’s not like your run of the mill restaurant. A fun place to stop with the family. It’s not a sit down diner where you order at the table, you order at the counter and they bring your food. That’s not a bad thing, I just mentioned this based on a few reviews I saw on here.That said, the service was good, food is good and atmosphere is great. It’s a fun place to stop.

Excellent service and some of the best food in Hood River! People kept coming in with only 10 minutes to closing time and employees kept saying, “Of course we’ll make you something, whatever you want!” They were also cleaning when we came in, which we liked but still took our order right away. Our steak had to be cooked up just a bit due to personal preference, but the staff was very friendly about it and brought it back quickly and it was so so tasty!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is pretty unique and awesome. It’s full of old antiques and photos from Hood River’s old days all the way back to the 1800s. The meat was good. My kids liked it. I give it a four stars out of five just because it’s a little run-down however the food was good and the service was excellent

This was a wonderful break from our road trip on I-84. The burgers were really yummy and we could see the flames jumping up on burgers being grilled as we waited to order. There was a salad bar but we opted for burgers and fries with a soda. They had to-go cups with lids for the drinks, so we were able to take them with us after eating and heading back on the road. Cool part about this place was the condiment bar – it looks like a mini salad bar and had anything I ever wanted on my burger. The atmosphere is wood rustic with high back booths for privacy plus plenty of other seating. AND if you have time and the appetite for dessert, there are slices of pies, huge maple bars, and more. I’ve passed by this place mant times and I feel I’ve missed out, having never stopped here, before. Great place! And great friendly people.

Wish there was a terrible option. Ate there yesterday for the first time. They should be embarrassed. First off the place smells terrible. Second I waited for over 40 minutes for my food and when it arrived my burger was cold and there was a long hair on it, how disgusting. The soda I drank tasted like cooking grease because from what I can tell the glass was washed(and not very well) in the same water as the greasy dishes from the kitchen. Then as I was sitting there waiting for everyone else to finish their food since I had lost my appetite I noticed a dead roach under the table. This place is disgusting and I myself will never return. Really don’t even know how the Health Dept. doesn’t shut this place down.
