Character’s Corner is the quintessential Steamboat Island neighborhood gem, offering a warm, unpretentious atmosphere where locals and visitors alike feel instantly at home. While the pub serves up some of the best burgers and cold PNW drafts in the Olympia area, the energy truly peaks during their legendary karaoke nights. These evenings transform the cozy tavern into a vibrant, high-spirit community hub where a supportive crowd cheers on every performer, regardless of skill level. Whether you’re stopping in for a quiet bite or sticking around to belt out a classic anthem, Character’s Corner delivers an authentic slice of island life defined by great service and even better company.

Came in with a friend on Christmas Eve about 12 noon. Not overly busy, about 12-15 people inside. Bartender saw us walk in and sit down, 15 minutes pass and no service or even an acknowledgment of our presence. Had to leave and take out thirst, hunger and money to Buzz’s tavern down the road.

One hour, one table visit, one drink, not busy on a Sunday with two servers. Steak and eggs were good but service was subpar unless a person was playing pull tabs. 12-21-25

All around great stop for a post-hike burger. Really friendly service, tasty burgers, and amazing waffle fries! The beer selection didn’t go beyond the usual suspects but we were all able to find something we liked – Bode, Mac + Jacks, Hefe, etc. The “pudding shots” were a surprise hit – basically whipped cream with vanilla vodka, Baileys, and chocolate chips. Yummy! Relaxed sports bar atmosphere with lots of tables. Appreciated that the A/C was reasonable and not cranked up super high. Recommend!

What a great little spot!! Came here for a friend’s retirement party. Drinks didn’t come as often as I would’ve preferred but it was okay. Stumbled upon bingo night and won some meat so that was loads of fun. Hope to swing by again soon.

Came in for a couple of drinks the other night since I was in town, after hearing some good reviews about the place a few years back. Definitely a locals bar, which is fine. The quirky decor is nice and I can appreciate the menu picks (did not get food). It seemed that a handful of patrons had their fair share of alcohol consumption here; rowdy and stumbling around. I’d be worried about being on the road with them. But I guess that’s just how these small town places work.
