Visited Char Bar in Parkville on Valentine’s Day and were able to snag a high top by the bar quickly. Our server Josh was absolutely amazing, coming from a retired server, I can honestly say he went above and beyond. He explained the menu thoroughly, made the experience feel high-end, and crafted some of the best chocolate martinis I’ve ever had (four in total, all perfect!).
The food was hearty, generous in portion, hot, and came out quickly, excellent value for the price. Can’t wait to come back with friends for a pickleball double date!

Very cool vibe and environment. Clean and open spaced. Josh was an incredible, top-rate server. He recommended the burger which was flavorful and juicy. So good. This place gets all the stars.

Sat at the bar and shared a whomp platter. Everything was super solid. The ribs, burnt ends, and cheesy corn bake especially. Service was great as well. I will be back!
On my 2nd trip in had the CBGB burger with fried egg and a side of jalapeño cheese cornbake. Delicious!

This place is great, so great we went twice in one week. Food is fantastic and service is excellent. The staff knows their stuff about the menu and honestly seem to love working there. This is obviously a great place to bring the whole family and big groups. We sat at the bar and it is thanks to the bar tender(s) that we went the second time as he told us about the special – the smoked prime rib. The only reason I gave the food a 4 and not a 5 is it is barbecue and in Kansas City- barbecue is a serious thing and 5s can’t be thrown out easily.

The smoke meats do not need barbecue sauce. Nice tender and juicy with a good smoked flavor. But their offered barbecue sauces do compliment the foods well.
If you’ve never had smoked jackfruit, you got to try it.
The pit beans definitely have a kick.

My husband dined in but brought home a piece of the peach bread pudding for me. I was stunned when I opened the container. The bread pudding was almost completely burned. The 3 decent bites I was able to dig out of the middle were pretty tasty, but the rest was completely inedible. This should have never left the kitchen, and at a cost of $10…unacceptable!

Was in the area for a military training and our group came here for dinner. Super cool vibes, full bar, games, outdoor area, tvs etc. The food was DELICIOUS! The sauces, different types of bbq meats and side dishes all paired beautifully and the portions are generous. Highly recommend for a night out with friends and family, or any occasion.

Love the food and love the atmosphere. Only thing I would like to see different is a different French fries served. The one they got are hard and a tad bit salty. Char Bar is a very sophisticated place to eat with plenty of fun to be had. Just caused i mentioned the hard fries, dont mean its not good. I could have ordered a different side. Still 5 star over here.

Delicious food, but service could be better.
Char Bar delivers on flavor—everything from the brisket to the sides was top-notch and clearly made with care. However, the service felt a bit average. Staff weren’t very attentive, and we experienced longer-than-expected wait times. Still, the food makes it worth a visit, especially if you’re craving quality BBQ.

I ate here with a friend on a Saturday for their brunch. We arrived shortly after they opened and were seated quickly in their outdoor area. LOTS of outdoor seating in the shade, so that was a really nice choice over the indoor opinion. Our waiter greeted us immediately and explained the brunch menu thats offered on the weekend. We both chose the Burnt End Benny dish, and I added their purple coleslaw and a side of bacon to my order. My friend and I both agreed, the dish was okay, nothing spectacular. The burnt ends are just a chunk of meat on top of a biscuit, the hollandaise sauce was bland, but the egg was cooked to perfection Bacon side was really cooked to a crisp and dried out, served cold. The purple coleslaw is very tasty! Despite ordering before their busy lunch rush, our meals were made fresh but not hot, just a little warmer than room temp. Which was disappointing. We both also added a cup of coffee, but this was not very good.
The real star of our visit was our waiter, Micah! He took very good care of us, allowed us to have a leisurely meal and was very attentive; kept checking back, refilled coffee and waters, and assured us we could take our time.
Overall, this restaurant offers really good service, ample seating both indoor and outdoor, is smartly decorated and conveniently located with plenty of parking. I really want to return again to try dinner because the platters they offer look amazing, however the brunch menu doesn’t seem to be their forte.
