Finally got to dine in last night and it was a great experience!
Once you’re seated, you’re given a menu to decide what to order. You do have to order at the back of the restaurant, not at your table.
We ordered the meatballs for our appetizers which came out very quick. They had a crunchy coating and were soft and flavorful.
The pies do take a bit of time to come out but are well worth the wait! We really enjoyed the Margherita and Fun Guy (pictured here). Don’t forget to order some crust dip to finish off your last bites of amazingly crunchy crust. We tried the whipped ricotta, so good!
Will definitely be coming back.

Loved everything about Char. The pizza is absolutely outstanding. Without a doubt one of the best in Philly. We were blown away by the meatball appetizer. The desserts were heavenly and perfect for wrapping up the meal.
Pro tip: the seat at the bar is the best in the house. Viraj is such a delight to talk to and so friendly with our kids. The entire staff is amazing.

Finally…. the best pizza I’ve found in Philly, and trust me, I’ve been on a mission. The whipped ricotta to dip crusts in? YES.. And that meatball? Absolutely outrageous in the best possible way. Carly our server was on point, the vibe was amazing, and the whole place just radiated “hidden gem” energy. I seriously can’t wait to go back! Thank you, CHAR!!

We had the best experience at Char! The food (meatballs INCREDIBLE, kale Caesar great, funguy and short rib pizza also delicious) was great and the soft serve was excellent. Service was wonderful too.
Tim was a wonderful server, try to get him if you can! He was patient, not pushy, and brought us lots of water and everything right on time. We can’t wait to go back!

Everything was outstanding. The service and food were phenomenal. Excellent banter with the staff and chef. We had the pepperoni square pie, drunken shroom, soft serve and a dessert they are trying out. Cannot recommend this BYO enough. Looking forward to returning soon.

Do not walk here-run! You are greeted by a warm friendly staff who you can tell are aiming to give you a great dining experience. It is a low key vibe to go with the byob industrial atmosphere. Every piece of food is made from scratch and you can taste it. The focaccia with whipped ricotta is next level. My favorite pizza is the vodka one. The in-house made sauce should be jarred and sold by the gallon! It was hard to save room for dessert but we persevered. The chocolate pie topped with homemade whipped cream and chocolate shavings will rock your world. Try the ice cream as well. A very unique gem in Philly. We will back!

Then, stay a little longer to chit chat with the employees because they’re just really nice to talk to. (Don’t forget to BYOB!) (I’m serious about the citrus! You might be thinking why would I have a tiny lil orange, but, baby, imagine this: You’re almost too full from your olives, ricotta, and delicious pizza. Maybe you got dessert, maybe you didn’t—I don’t even know you. You want a palate cleanser. The cutest, freshest, juiciest, SWEETEST mandarin comes out on ice. One of my new favorite places in Philly! Don’t expect super fast service when dining in as it’s a small business that is getting popular fast and they put care into each order, but it’s worth the time. Always get the Caesar and the pizza special. So good and unique!

The hype is real. The pizza is just consistently good every time. Viraj knows his stuff. Keep In mind it’s a small wood oven so if it gets busy you may have a longer wait for your pizza but just make sure you bring a bottle of wine or two, order the kale Caesar to start, and just relax. It’s worth it.Also, no one is talking about the ice cream. The ice cream is my favorite soft serve.
