I grew up in Baltimore and have visited that location several times it’s by far the best one I’ve ever been to, but it’s giving me a taste for chaps when I moved to Aberdeen. I tried the one there and it was also very good. I just recently moved to Glen Burnie and this is my first time trying the one at this location and I have to say I am highly disappointed as soon as I got there I noticed that no one was there which was kind of strange I went in, and the woman who greeted me was also very strange. She looked like she did not want to be there And was not very friendly. I don’t think that she should be running the front register greeting customers in this way. Next, I wish charged $18 for a small baked bean, a large mac & cheese and a pulled pork sandwich. Mind you

I can get this whole meal a lot cheaper at Mission BBQ and way better quality. I wanted to give it a chance, but after I tasted the pulled pork it Had a very spicy sauce on it Which I didn’t care for. The meat was rather dry, and if it wasn’t for this terrible sauce that it was smothered in, I wouldn’t have been able to swallow it. Also, the sandwich came very wet and smooshed up. The mac & cheese was OK it was pretty bland and definitely not homemade as the restaurant claims. Next, I went to try the baked beans I opened the container and it was very liquidy. I didn’t even actually see any beans in it at first. When I went to try it, it was so sour and so unpleasant. I threw it away immediately. I would not recommend coming to this location. It’s not a good representation of what Chaps really is.

I order the fish platter. The description says Fresh cod, French fries, and coleslaw. First, there is nothing FRESH about this fish, I took a bite and it tasted weird, I first thought it was the sauce so I took another bite without the sauce and the fish taste stale, that is the best way I can describe it like it’s been sitting out for a few days before they fried it. The French fries are bland and over cooked, I added salt and pepper and dipped it in the sauce but that did not help. And the coleslaw is discussing it tastes spoiled kind of like the fish. The best thing I tasted was the sauce. The Chaps Ritchie Hwy location is very disappointing I would give them a 0 /10 definitely do not recommend. If you want to try Chaps go to the Rt.40 location.

We have dined here in the past and the food is decent. Their meat is sliced more on the thicker side than other pit beef places in the area. I ordered the turkey Rachel, which was OK, but it was very sloppy. It was like the sandwich was rushed and had thousand island dressing all over the sandwich. Like the dressing was all over the bread and everything. The plain sandwiches are better in my opinion. The fries were pretty good. The prices are high – so can be pricey brining a family.
The dining room is large and spacious.
Another thing – after ordering drinks and paying, the cashier told us ALL of the drink options were out of order except iced tea. Kind of annoying since only one person in our party drinks tea. The signs on the 2 drink machines stating “out of order” looked like they had been there for some time. I would think this would be top priority for repair.

I orders a corn beef sandwich and did not look like I received that, I received roast beef. When looking at the staff, they were getting orders mixed up and kept going back and forth with the orders they had, which was 2 orders. Someone who ordered way before I entered the store did not get there order until I receive mine and it was part of the confusion with the orders we ordered completely separate items. The staff looked so confused on what they needed to cook and package up. The mac and cheese taste sour. Service was very slow

I always receive a great sandwich at the Glen Bernie location. The atmosphere and service are what they are. I ordered in advance for pick up and the food was ready when I requested. Go get a sandwich and enjoy. I always get the Triple D and my husband likes the Big John. I wil have food for at least 3 meals!

I had a taste for spare ribs but the Pit Beef is really their specialty. I was hoping the spare ribs would be smoked but they were more baked or roasted. They were quite meaty, tender, and there were sauces to help it out. I tried the stewed tomato and onion side and the mac and cheese which were good.

The cafe was nearly empty yet the food was a bit of a wait for both dine in and take out orders. But the staff was friendly and our food was very hot. There was a sign that said “We use peanut oil” but there were containers od Soybean oil near the menu. So if there are allergy or dietary concerns, ask about the oil.

Overall, a good experience.

Chaps is usually and always has been a 10/10. I’ve been getting chaps pit beef sandwiches for 21+ years at the original location and it always exceeds expectation. The Glen Burnie expansion in theory was great, bringing a great product closer to people on the other side of the tunnel. When it opened the sandwiches were good, not great, but close enough and the service was quick and friendly. Over the years since it’s opened, their service has slowed down to a halt and the product keeps getting worse. I keep trying because the location is convenient and people have bad days sometimes. Today I stopped in and the sandwich I got was well done, although I’d ordered medium rare, and the meat had a strange taste. Whatever rolls they have switched to are almost like a cheap version of what they used to have and my bread literally fell apart in half as soon as I got it and was super soggy. The bread just kind of disintegrated before I could finish. It wasn’t inedible, it’s just nowhere near chaps quality and for the pricei paid I could get what they gave me today anywhere. I don’t think I’ll be back to the Glen Burnie location.

My fiancé and I were excited to try this place out. While we had realistic expectations, this place underperformed.
We ordered two sandwiches, two small drinks and a shared large fry. The total was around $40.
Okay, okay, but this place is supposed to be worth it so no arguments there! (Lettuce and tomato being a $1.35 up charge is sad though.)
We sit in store and wait just past 15 minutes (not great, not terrible since we had time) and dig in.

The fries were cold. Not warm, not greasy—just dry and cold. Also COMPLETELY unseasoned, but I don’t know if that’s a feature or not to allow customers to doll up their own fries. So I won’t knock them for the lack of seasoning.
Our sandwiches? Also cold. How? Why?? We’re dining in store, so we really expected nice hot sandwiches. I had a standard Ruben and in the picture, you can see the cheese was completely solid and wasn’t even slightly melted. The bread was soggy like it wasn’t toasted at all.
A fresh sandwich should not be soggy.
My fiancé’s sandwich was just as cold as mine, with solid unmelted cheese.
The meat in my Rueben was the only reason I ate half. It’s some quality stuff but it wasn’t enough to save the whole thing.

Service was okay. The woman who took our order was nice. The place was clean and stocked.
Maybe we’ll try the original location in the future but we won’t be back here.

Been going to shops since I was a kid and always remembered it as a very good pit beef. Took my wife to try to impress her got a pit beef and a pulled pork and it looked like the bun was straight out of giant food. I always remembered chaps being on a Kaiser roll with nice finally sliced beef. It just didn’t cut it.

WHAT Fish & Pit Beef Platters Look Like THIS??? And Miniature Coleslaw going Bad. Chaps Suppose2B Gud??? Maybe it is just THIS Glen Burnie Location that is so subpar. Fri Evening 6/27/25. $31.27 for This. Something from Hades. They doin some Real Crazy Work Here. Arby’s, Sonic, or Mickie D’s Come Thru Better. Shameful. Retched. Sloppy. Greasy. Messy. Highly Unnappetizing. Nothing Fresh. Smelling Bad. Looking Bad. We need the Option to give absolutely NO stars for some Reviews. None Whatsoever. This was Hands-Down THE Most Disgusting, Nastiest, Most Trifling appearing & smelling Food(?) I’VE EVER GOTTEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.

I WOULD NOT FEED THIS TO A PET. NOR A STRAY ANIMAL. Would actually Feel Sorry for MY enemy if They Ate This.

A friend of mines came over Smiling saying he wanted to Try Something Different. I opened my food container and asked him what it was he said A FIsh Platter. I immediately KNEW SOMETHING WAS OFF BY THE ODOR & appearance. I picked a chunk of the ” fish” up and a piece fell off (that is not a bite in the photo) and my fingers were glistening in GREASE. Smelled like Rancid cooking oil. Everything was So GREASY, Slimy, and Burnt/Chemical Smelling ALL I could do was stand there and look: I told him I wasn’t eating That MESS.

I also told him NOT to touch HIS “Pit Beef Platter” because it looked & smelled FAR worse than my Fish Platter. No idea why he tried to eat some of this MESS looking uncomfortable with the bites he did take. Aint that much Hungry in the World. Nor Risk of possibly getting Sick. And: It Smelled Nothing like Beef. Also said he needs to try to take Receipts & Containers in when they open Get his money back for WHATEVER this was he paid for from this place.

Other Reviews not gr8. Does the Owner even read them? This food was TERRIBLE. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS AND THINK: WOULD YOU WANT YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS.TO EAT THIS??? WOULD U EAT IT?

WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE RECEIVED (WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOOD) LOOKING & SMELLING LIKE THIS IT IS THE HONEST TO GOD’S TRUTH.

Y’ALL SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

ON A FRI TOO.

Limp, Wet, Greasy “Handcut FRIES” LOOK LIKE THEY chop SOME UNWASHED POTATOES, DIPPED THEM IN OLD LUKEWARM, BAD, OLD OIL, REUSED 200+ x’s, THEN JUST DUMPED THEM IN THE TO-GO CONTAINER. AND U SEE THEIR “FISH” AND “PIT BEEF.”

NEED GORDON RAMSEY.

STAFF DOESNT SEEM LIKE THEY’RE BEING TALKED TO & TREATED TOO GOOD EITHER.VERY UNORGANIZED. EVERYTHING SEEMS A HOT MESS. Place does seem clean though.

Establishment Looks Meh.

NEVER AGAIN. ✌️
