I hardly do Mexican food but today I was in a quest to find the most authentic Mexican restaurant. After searching online and reading many reviews, I decided to venture to Chapo’s Tequilas & Grill.

They have several drink specials on different days of the week. Today, Monday, they had 2 for $10 Margaritas. I decided to try the Spicy Mango (see pic). This drink was beyond divine. If you like a bit of spice/kick, some sweetness, some salty, than this is the drink for you. It has real pieces of jalapeños with a spicy rim, topped with a tamarind candy-ish straw. This drink is not for the faint of heart.

I ordered shrimp tacos (los mar) with refried beans. For my meal, I had the Texas Fajitas with grilled shrimp and steak….it was served sizzling hot to my table served with black beans and salad. It also comes with rice but I didn’t want it.

The ambience was fantastic…authentic spanish music playing. The bar area has 3 TVs. Overall I had a great time and all of the servers were extremely nice and friendly. I’m glad I stopped by.

Total: $70 (2 drinks, tacos and meal)

I’m so glad we decided to come here. This is tucked away from busy Lawrenceville but has a great relaxed vibe and quality food and service. I didn’t want to write a review just so it never gets over crowded where I can’t enjoy myself lol but this place is solid. They have charro beans! The Paloma was amazing (honey added)! The service is great and relaxed. Music is always on point. It’s our family favorite.

If you’re looking for a place with great food, strong drinks, and an amazing vibe, Chapo’s is the spot! From the moment you walk in, everyone welcomes you and makes you feel like family. The music and atmosphere always set the perfect mood.

The margaritas are on point and they definitely don’t skimp on the tequila! I also had a Mojito and a Mezcal Jamaica and both were amazing.

We ordered the chicken fajitas and the portions were great — plenty of rice, beans, and tortillas, and everything came out hot and delicious.

Our server Devin was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed the whole time. The service here is always top notch.

Great food, great drinks, great service. If you haven’t been to Chapo’s yet, you’re definitely missing out!

⭐ Highly recommend!

I’m so disappointed to be leaving a bad review but the quality of food and service here has gone down so drastically over the last year. We decided to give it one more chance with a to-go order, where I was not allowed to wait at the half empty bar and enjoy a beverage for my twenty minute wait.
The Mexican chicken soup had so much sodium that it seemed almost hazardous. Too salty to enjoy and I love salt! The street tacos have barely any meat and are just bulked up with pineapple (?!) and the salsa is mostly water. Please do better

Always looking for the next “best” Mexican restaurant in this area. Think we’ve found it. Everything exceeded our expectations – the service, food, ambiance, and even the cleanliness of the restrooms. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa were so delish that I over indulged and couldn’t finish my meal. Our entire family enjoyed every bite, which is a tremendous compliment to the chef because they are critics when it comes to Mexican food. Our son ordered the beef burrito (with queso sauce) from the kid’s menu and said it was the best burrito he has ever eaten. We’ll definitely place this place on our list of favorites.

Chapo’s was a spur-of-the-moment stop when my family decided we wanted latin food before starting a 4-hour road trip. A quick Google Maps search yielded it as a nearby result and we ran with it.
When arriving, the large outdoor skeleton was particularly eye-catching. Once inside, the hostess and our server were both welcoming and inviting. We were offered the usual chips and salsa along with another brown sauce that I regrettably did not get the name of.
We ordered chicken tenders and fries for the kiddo and a Chapo’s Trios for each of us. Our food came and it was pretty good. Our kid’s chicken tenders were a little dry but the food was not bad. They definitely make a mean horchata. Enchilada? Good. Chile Relleno? Good. Beans and rice? Okay. Taco? Probably the best thing on the plate.
Did it blow my mind? No. But overall, I feel like Chapo’s is a pretty good spot to stop and grab a bite of food to satisfy your Tex-Mex fix.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this place truly deserves one. This was by far the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. The food was absolutely amazing, the drinks were exceptional, and the service was phenomenal from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming, and the music made the experience even more enjoyable. I was impressed in every possible way. This will now be my go-to spot anytime I’m craving Mexican food. Highly recommend—you won’t be disappointed.

Service was excellent and I have always had great service at Mexican restaurants, so this was no exception, and food was pretty decent. I wasn’t a big fan of the 2 salsa dips they brought out and the chips were kinda boring, but no big deal because that stuff is free. My main course was great and I was very full before I finished the meal. Prices were a bit stiff for average competition. Other than that it has friendly staff, overall good food, and good atmosphere.

STAY AWAY!!! OVER PRICED!!! I have tried this place a couple of time & it’s not worth the money. The food portions are not generous, the drinks are sweet & the service is slow. The creepy tall manager with glasses is rude & wanted me to pay for hard old chicken. Don’t waste your money or time AI created a good summary of this place, that’s not true. Your bill is going to be higher than expected & never told until expected to pay!!!! RUN!!! STAY AWAY! MORE MEX RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA!!!!!
