Great craft drinks and upscale menu. With a la carte a thing, I would recommend exploring the menu and ordering from the various sections. A very engaging plug and play menu to dabble with and build a unique meal. Great for a date night with your boo-piece or to celebrate a special occasion. Great location and people watching.

Chaplin is a great addition to downtown Shelton. The space is beautiful, the atmosphere feels upscale yet welcoming, and the food quality is solid across the board. Steaks are well prepared, seafood is fresh, and the menu is thoughtfully put together. Service was attentive and friendly, which made the overall experience very enjoyable.
The only downside was the drink pricing. While the cocktails are well made, a dirty martini at around $13 during happy hour felt quite high for the area. Not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of.
Overall, a very good dining experience and a place I’d return to—especially for dinner—just mindful that drinks can add up quickly.

Everything we ordered was insanely delicious. The bone marrow and Brussels sprouts were our favorites. The bolognese was also incredible.

I’m going to start with saying I came on a Wednesday night, so maybe it’s not their best night of the week. I’ve driven by this place a bunch of times and it’s always packed. But due to schedules we came on a Wednesday night after a major snow storm. The staff was super friendly. Unfortunately I don’t remember our servers name or she would get a shout out. Fantastic service, really. The atmosphere was again fantastic. The place looked great. The lighting was great. Music fit the place well. Drinks, the Manhattan was great. The glass of cab I had was great. My wife got an alcohol free spritzer and it wasn’t for her. Not saying it was bad, just not what she was looking for. No problem, I drank that too. Apps were good: little neck clams, shrimp cocktail, pork belly mac and cheese. Unfortunately our entrees just seemed to be not as expected. I’m not going to say it was bad, because it wasn’t. I again just think it wasn’t as expected. I got the NY strip and it was cooked great. It just didn’t seemed to be seasoned. Came with steak sauce, but I was surprised it was served cold. Maybe I should come back on a weekend night. The bar looked great and I would definitely come back to visit that for a few cocktails, as the cocktail menu looked great!

A bit pricey for the area, but cocktails are fantastic and the food is divine. The Chaplin Burger is, without question, the best burger I’ve had anywhere. We’ve never been guided poorly when listening to our server’s recommendations.

I can’t believe I hadn’t written a review yet. Chaplin is one of our regular spots and I we love everything about this place. The food is always good and the service is impeccable.
They also have a wonderful happy hour and brunch menu that we visit regularly for too.
To top it all off, their prices are also really reasonable.

Amazing place! I heard great things about this place, and they weren’t wrong, from the manager, hostess, and servers. Everyone was really nice and helpful, they have a good variety of wine and cocktails, we ordered a burrata and was good. Took a little time for the mean dishes, but believe me, it’s worth it! I ordered a steak sandwich, and wow!!! Was like heaven in my mouth, I didn’t know something so basic as a sandwich could taste that good, the atmosphere was good, I recommend to make a reservation because the place could get crowd it.

Updated review from 2024 (4 stars): Came back for a second visit 2 years later, and most of the food was as delicious as I remember it being! We found that it took a bit longer than we would’ve liked for each course to get to our table, and our dinners could’ve been hotter for how long we waited for them. Our cheesecake for dessert was a little warmer than room temp, which we found odd for cheesecake, and the tres leches came with a basil oil that we found a little strange. However, we were very happy with all of our steaks and found them to be perfectly cooked and flavorful. Our server was attentive with refilling water and checking in on us, and you forget you’re in Shelton with the fun vibe in the restaurant. Overall it was a nice meal for my parents’ anniversary!

If you’re a lover of surf and turf, I highly recommend sharing the seafood tower and a butcher box with your party. Everything is so fresh, and the steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly! Excellent appetizers, side dishes, and desserts as well. Professional staff, and great cocktails. I’m dying to go back again!

Atmosphere, drinks, and service excellent- food was good and interesting, but some things I wouldn’t get again.
Loved the vibe here, the space is beautiful and the decor is thoughtful and comfortable and very photo worthy! The service was excellent Sarah was fast and attentive, we were really wowed by her!
The food was good but not AMAZING. I’d get the oysters and the steak again, but not the bass and not the dessert. It wasn’t BAD! So try it if you like it. I’d definitely go again to explore the menu more.
Make a reservation for Saturday night after 7, and try a cocktail and a wine flight. Get the oysters and steak. It was a great dining experience overall!
