Kao Mun Gai Yang – Special menu
This was amazing! I have not come across a flavourful dish like this up in Perth.
Everything tasted authentic.
Chicken was juicy and a very generous serving for 1 person! A very different experience if you order Hainanese Chicken Rice, where the Rice takes over the plate and the chicken serving is fit for an 9 year old child.
The spicy jaew dipping sauce was on point!
If anything, maybe the rice serving is not enough – for somebody with a standard appetite (they might expect more). For me this was more than enough serving of rice, considering how much chicken was offered – I am satisfied.
Ordered takeaway online via their website on a Wednesday night. Requested pick up at 7:30pm, got there 10 min early – timing was exactly 7:30pm ready. Resturant was busy, not overpacked at the time but I noticed a lot of people ordering takeaway. I guess it would vary on time of day/weekends/holiday period on the wait time.
I will definitely come back and try this place again with the family, hoping the kitchen special dish of the month is to my liking!

On a quick trip down to Albany from Perth we decided on a dinner of Thai and headed to Chanya Thai and although we only ordered 2 meals, we basically didn’t leave anything as the meal was absolutely delicious. The flavours were so flavoursome and the freshness of the vegetables was amazing, even better the option of gluten free. I will definitely be back here next time I’m in town.

Wonderful experience. Proves that hard work can make small places beautiful. Dinner for 2 in 1st weekend of July 2025. Had Pad Thai (veg n tofu) and Pad Pong Karee (prawns). Fresh, tasty, healthy. Smiley friendly staff especially Tam. Impressed with their cleanliness n decor.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Chanya Thai. The food was absolutely delicious, full of authentic flavors and beautifully presented. Chef Karla was very accommodating and friendly, making us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. The staff were attentive and professional, and the service was impressively fast. Everything was smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. Highly recommended — we will definitely be back!

Food was ok but nowhere near as good as what everyone is rating it. Not sure if its because they were rushing food orders or not because we almost had to walk out because the wait was excruciating.
We were initially told there was a 45 min wait but it ended up being closer to 1.5 hours. A table that appeared to come in after us got their food and were out of there before we got a single item.
Almost the entire restaurant were frustrated with how long the food was taking. After we finished eating I went back in the restaurant almost an hour later to use the toilet to see people in the restaurant still eating their food that were waiting with us… they must have been there over 2 hours.
I watched several people come in for online takeaway orders (what else can you do whilst twiddling your thumbs) being told to come back as it was not ready and then coming back only to have items missing from their orders or not at all.
Seemed to us there was a priority was put on a certain table and they continued to take online orders which seems to make up the majority of their business, instead of serving those in the restaurant. Very poorly managed… if you can’t serve food in time then stop taking orders until you can catch up. Probably the worst experience I have had in a restaurant and won’t be going back again.

This Thai spot is now a must-visit for us every time we’re in Albany! The Pad Thai is packed with flavor and absolutely delicious, and the mango sticky rice is a perfect sweet treat. Plus, the staff are incredibly warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

The Panang curry, pad thai and pad med mamaung were delicious. Big portions and reasonable priced. Definitely recommend!

Very average Thai my husband and I have ever had, ordered the Pad Kee Mao and had barely any to no noodles very oily and laking taste, Pad Thai was very average again zero flavour, Garlic pepper chicken also not great, very dry chicken, steam rice and curry puffs were lovely
