Stopped on a whim for lunch
I’m rarely in this area. My son and I like Thai food so we gave it a shot. Glad we did. The waitress was very attentive and the food came reasonably fast. I worry when it’s too fast. My son had a shrimp meal and I ordered Massaman curry which I’d never heard of. It was delicious. We were both very pleased.

Unbelievable food and a cozy atmosphere. I love Thai food, but feel like I’ve never had proper wonton soup before eating at Chang Thai. The flavors were outstanding, the service friendly and quick, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming: 100% would recommend!!

We had a great first impression of this spot! We were seated immediately with super fast service, our food came out within minutes of ordering. They have a very impressive menu, but since it was our first visit we stuck to our “usuals” to get a baseline compared to other spots in town. This will definitely be our new go to, I can’t wait to try more things from their menu!

Amazing traditional Thai food. The wait staff was extremely accommodating as we had our 4 kids aged 15 to 7 years old. The food came out very fast, was wonderfully displayed and the flavor was incredible.
Mango curry is definitely the dish to try! I was very impressed with the balance of sweet and spicy with real chunks of mango. Pad Thai traditional chicken was very good and a staple on the Thai menu. Pork belly was another big winner for the night. The pork was crunchy on the outside and bursting with juicy flavor on the inside.
Do not hesitate to come for dinner, there is a second floor to the establishment. If the lot is full, park at Arby’s.
Come and enjoy a great meal and fantastic wait staff!

We came in a group of five without reservation and were able to be seated soon upstairs. The view across street with spring flowering trees complemented the dishes: tasty Thai, big portions, and fresh ingredients. Interiors and exteriors both look clean and nice. The only thing is at the end of dining, our waitress was too busy so we ended up helping ourselves packing leftovers. I will still give it 5 considering overall pleasant dining experience.

Absolutely the best thai food in Charlottesville. The red curry with shrimp was excellent, just the exact amount of spice. Pad thai was perfect. Portion size is very generous. Presentation is fabulous. Staff is very accommodating.

I’ve had so many disappointing Thai meals in C’ville that I didn’t expect much here—but to my surprise, it wasn’t bad at all! The portions were generous, and the Pad Thai, red curry, and fried rice were all pretty decent. I’d definitely come back to try other dishes. Service and pricing were both reasonable.
My only complaint is that the portion of rice served with the red curry was a bit too small to soak up all the sauce. It would be much better if they served it in a bowl rather than on a plate—scraping up every last bite of sauce and rice wasn’t the easiest. Oh well.
I gave only 2 stars for the atmosphere because they use plastic cups and styrofoam containers for hot food, which isn’t ideal. Also, the noise level made conversation difficult—not because people were being loud, but just due to the way the space is set up.
Overall, a decent spot that exceeded my expectations, but with a few areas that could be improved.

This place was on point! I just happened to be driving through town heading south for a work trip and found this restaurant purely by luck. All of the seasonings and food are handmade inside of the store. The waitress told me that all of the spices that they use are hand toasted on their own oven and combined by the chef on a daily basis. This was incredible! I would definitely recommend this location to anybody. I ordered the beef pho the tiger roll and the spring rolls. The total for all of this was only $34. I thought it was a great value for the money. The only complaint that I would have, is it is very limited seating as they only had about seven tables that could see the total of four people per table.
My rating system consists of a 3-star being exactly what I expected and neither good nor bad. A 4 means something was extra special whether it was service, food, staff, etc., and a 5 means I was blown away. A 2 star rating was disappointing with no offer to correct the experience and a 1-star rating was terrible

It’s tough to find a restaurant in C’ville that is open on a Monday. This restaurant was awesome! My son’s first experience having Thai food and he loved it. The staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful, making special accommodations with grace for a picky eater (definitely kid-friendly). Food was amazing with large portions and great flavors. Very crispy calamari, tasty soups, fresh steamed veggies, delicious fried rice, well prepared tofu (vegetarian options are available). Parking was easy and plentiful. Got a to go box and had lunch the next day. It was great to have some fresh veggies while traveling.

Such a great experience. Sat in the outside seating section and it was like a private dining experience. What’s even better is that despite being out there by ourselves, the waitress was still so on top of our service. Ordered chicken pad see ew at spice level 2 and was very satisfied with it. I’m terrible with spice and this was a great level for me. Also the Thai iced coffee was super good.
