This review is being edited after I fought with Champs management for over a week trying to get someone to look into my situation. I visited here on July 2nd. The following week I noticed an extra $18 added to my tab after I left a cash tip. I did not write in a tip on that receipt. The food and service was great but I dont put up with this. Spoke to Greg the following Monday. He took down my info and told him the info. Then called again that Friday to check in. He said he hadnt gotten around to it but would have someone look at it when he got help later that day. Never heard anything back. Then called the following week and spoke to maybe the owner and addressed the situation to him. Not sure who he was and said Greg would be in later. Called later and was told he wasnt there. This had been 2 weeks after and not one call back to me. So I called my bank and told them and disputed the charge. I wanted to dispute the entire thing because an establishment who allows their employees to write in tips and does nothing about it doesn’t deserve a damn dime from me. My wife’s family might love this place and the food is great but the management team is as trash as penn states basketball team. They definitely need some ethics training and keep an eye on their staff.

“Served with a side Caesar or Fries…” that you will pay through your nose for! Our server was excellent (Kyle) but tacked on every possible charge… 1) note that the fries were $3.99 each when they should have been included, or at most $1.99 for the burger; 2) my girlfriend asked if she could have the chicken patty on another burger choice, he said yes he would ask, and then added $4.00 because as he put it “the kitchen made me do it; 3) $4.99 for coleslaw? Seriously? Not coming here again, unless it’s only for drinks… which seem reasonably priced still. We gave Kyle a $20 cash tip for his good service, but $110 for a burger, two sandwiches, and a few beers? Good Lord!!!

We were pleasantly surprised with the tasty food at this place. I ordered their chicken tacos and they were out of the world. Their Mac & Cheese and fries were also very good. During weekdays they run a special $2 per taco upto 11 pm. Definitely worth the food and drinks.
Server was very nice, took time to explain the food menu and service was prompt.

Great sports bar! The beer selection us great, The Knuckle Ball is the best and biggest appetizer anywhere, the meat and potatoes is not what you think, its way better! Think tenders pot roast and Gnocchi! I highly reccomend! Fun Penn State Vibe!

We are from Nichols NY. Went down to help our son move from State College to Philadelphia. Decided to go have a drink and stopped here. Bloody Mary was amazing! Order a mozzarella cheese stick that was homade and huge! We loved it! Highly recommend this place! Thank you for the amazing drinks, food and service!

Visiting from out of town for a football game and decided on Champs for some pre-game noms. Service was decent and quick. Big establishment with tons of seating suitable to all group sizes. Plentiful TV’s with all the games on. Food was tasty… Spicy wings weren’t spicy at all but still yummy. Unfortunately fries were the only meat/dairy free option so maybe not the best for those with dietary restrictions… Definitely a good game day spot though.

We had our company holiday party here a few weeks ago, and I cannot say enough how wonderful it went! The actual fireplace in the room was so cozy and warm. The staff were fantastic and so accommodating. The food was incredible. This was our first year having the party here and I guarantee will be back.

We came here on a Friday night before a major football game, and we were impressed and pleased with how quickly they could get us seated and served. The restaurant itself is spacious enough to fit a large capacity. We enjoyed our time and meal here – good sports bar food in a college town.

Champs is a great spot to go to if you are looking to watch live sports. They have plenty of TV’s. It does get extremely busy when there are big games in town. We were in State College for the PSU vs Ohio football game.
The line to get your name on the waiting list can be overwhelming and a bit chaotic. If you work your way up to the host (a bit crudgemoney), your name will be added to the list. But if you aren’t there and they call your name, they move on to the next person right away. There is not a text when your table is ready or the vibrating discs etc.
Getting drinks at the bar was a challenge given the amount of people vs staff. At our table, the waitress was great. Drinks and food came out on a reasonable amount of time.
The food itself was good, not great (for our party). They do have a pretty extensive menu, so there are lots of options. The pizza (thicker crust, thin in the middle), looked tasty and will try next time.

Decided to head to champs sports bar on N.Atherton St. to watch the penn state whiteout game. Was seated quickly, and had an awesome waitress. She was super helpful, polite and took care of us all night while the game was going on. Food was very good, no complaints there. Atmosphere was great, felt like you got a little piece of being at the fame even though we weren’t. Would definitely recommend for a penn state fan looking to get around some fellow fans. And would recommend if your looking for a solid sports bar to hang out at or want to try something new.
