Space is small, just a few tables. We were able to grab a table surrounded by Venezuelan families who were clearly happy to ge getting a taste of home.
We had the two arepa plate, chicken and pork, and shared a beef empanada. The arepas are enough for two people to share. Both were delicious. Chicken was tender and juicy on its own. The accompanying sauces on both were tangy. The empanada was stuffed with beef and it was bursting in flavor.
Service was fine, nothing extraordinary. Table could have used a good wipe down if I’m honest, as it felt a bit sticky.
This is a good place for a taste of Venezuela.
I decided to try the salchiqueso with steak and it was amazing! Some restaurants skimp out of the meat but I was surprised by how much was in it. Very good quality and overall tastes great!
When the order was done and I was about to head out, the lady at the counter offered me a free frescolatia which I’ve never heard of before. Reminds me of a strawberry soda.
Great food, great service, and I always love the quality of these little ma/pa places! Definitely recommend trying this place out when you get the chance!
I’m sorry to say with what we ordered; empanadas they were terrible the bread was so dense and hard I broke the fork; my knife wouldn’t cut through it.
They didn’t have certain things available on the menu. The sodas were warm; they needed a cup of ice.
***Update to the restaurants reply***
I have had empanadas before, from other Venezuelan Restaurants and food trucks, these were by far the densest I have ever had and they had a lingering taste that stayed with you, and not a pleasant taste, more metalic. Yes, you did tell me it was warm after we ordered and were waiting for our food not when we ordered.
The first time I had chamos when they barely opened this location was stellar. I was so impressed I decided to come back often.
Well I’ve had it 5 more times since and what I order are empanadas and pastelitos.
The pastelitos are great!
But the empanadas have had various issues.
Once I got the wrong kind
Another time the filling of shredded beef was so dry you could tell it was old
And then this time I received an over fried one where the oil seeped inside the filling of the empanada and the color of it showed they are using old oil.
Please do better. This always happens. New place opens up offers great food.. and then slowly declines as they start cutting corners
