We ordered Georgian salad, lamb khinkali, crispy smashed potatoes with tkemali, lamb chops, and chicken mtsvadi. The khinkali were a bit mediocre — I’ve had better at other Georgian restaurants. Portions also felt a little small for the price.
The Kindzmarauli wine paired nicely with the meat, and we finished with a Napoleon dessert, which was very good. Overall, the food was somewhat mediocre. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really stand out.
The Khachapuri is a dish you’ll never forget for the rest of your life.
The staff are well versed about the dishes and cuisines. Service could be a bit quicker.
The best meal I’ve had in ages. Nothing seemed exotic, but everything tasted so different that anything I’ve had before!
Husband got a wine flight. I got a Pretty in Pink mocktail. We ate the lamb stuffed grape leaves before I could get a picture. Then we had Adjaruli Khachapuri- Georgian bread filled with amazing cheese, raw egg yolk, and butter that they mix at the table. Imagine Georgian raclette level cheese pulls. It was so good!
Husband’s entree was Braised Lamb and Tarragon Stew (Chakapuli) which was very good. We got a side of house fermented vegetables. I got the Pork Mtsvadi which is Marinated Pork skewers served with tarragon tkemali, red onions and pomegranate. It was a party in my mouth.
Dessert we split the honey cake. Again, amazing and unique. Kind of graham cracker flavor, whole grain, honey and cream combination. I also got a cappuccino.
So, so good. Can’t wait to go back.
Their genuine hospitality and care completely turned the experience around and left a lasting impression. It’s rare to feel this level of personal warmth and attentiveness in a city as fast-paced as New York, and it honestly made my day.
The food itself is flavorful and unique — a wonderful introduction to Georgian cuisine, from the warm khachapuri to the delicious grilled meats and vibrant salads. The setting is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual dinner or special outing.
I will definitely be returning — not only for the food, but because kindness like this is unforgettable. Thank you again to the owner and the team at Chama Mama for turning a small hiccup into a heartfelt experience. Highly recommend!
