This place is one of the few Japanese bakeries spots I love! Very homey feeling. Although space is limited while you order, there is a comfortable floral seating area in the back. Prices are very reasonable.

Stopped by for some pastries while in town due to great google reviews, and this place did NOT disappoint! Got the matcha cake, which was my personal favorite and the pistachio cheese cake. The matcha cake was in-between a cake and cheesecake texture, super moist and not too sweet which is my personal preference. We also got the matcha latte and it was also good! Very authentic little spot. Highly recommend.

Love this cozy place. The women running the store are so friendly and kind. I got the onigiri combo and everything was so delicious. But the MATCHA CAKE.. I will be returning very soon and often just for that slice of heaven.

We came in for the pastries today. We have few breads and a cake. They’re all delish. It’s very authentic tastes, especially if you’ve been to Japan and wanting some Japanese food – come here!!

Tasty food (savory and sweet), cute atmosphere (seating in the back), and very nice people! For lunch, we usually order 1 of the lunch combinations (fried chicken sandwich with miso soup is our favorite), 1-2 savory pastries, and 1-2 sweet pastries. Highly recommended.

This bakery is an absolute delight! Their sweet and savory pastries are incredibly delicious, with each bite being a burst of flavor. The shaved ice they offer is a perfect treat on a hot day. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is also top-notch – friendly, efficient, and attentive. A must-visit for anyone who craves mouthwatering baked goods and a refreshing shaved ice experience!

I really wanted to give 5 stars, but unfortunately I had mixed experiences. First time was excellent. I called shortly after closing and they were nice enough to let me purchase bakery items. We came back a few days later but disappointed that they got our order wrong. Also had to remind staff to bring our soup, silverware, and tea.
The meals were good, traditional Japanese dishes. However, they really shine in their pastries! Their rolls are not too sweet. I recommend the cream puffs, espresso cake, and apricot glazed pastry. Located in a quaint part of Covington, although parking can be difficult so be prepared to walk. The restaurant is clean, but somewhat plain. Hours are unfortunately short as they close at 3 pm. I recommend stopping by in you’re in the area for some sweets on the go.

The staff are very nice. Thank you for letting me practice my Japanese a little 🙂
The food is also delicious! I’d recommend the chicken sandwich the most out of the lunch menu, but I also like the onigiri (salmon at the time). The desserts are also good (I got the matcha roll cake for my mom and the strawberry choux pastry for me). While I don’t usually like tea that much, I thought their hojicha was yummy and warm as well.
It feels like a cozy place. If I lived nearby, I’d almost certainly stop by all the time!!

Chako Bakery Cafe is just fantastic! For years, I’ve loved coming in and getting a pastry/cream puff, but I recently came in and was amazed by the karaage-sando combo. A fair price— $14– for some of the juiciest, most tasty fried chicken I’ve ever had! The combo tastes incredibly fresh and is some of if not the best fried chicken/miso soup around. Service is thoughtful and attentive— make time to come in if you can!
