I’ve been here one time before in 2022. The egusi lamb was delicious. My current experience though today was poor. The fufu is fresh but I can tell the soup is not. The prices are not accurate. I was charged 83.22 I was already under the impression it would be around 54 ($18 for each entree without tax). I got fufu and egusi fish, I got fufu and egusi chicken and one with goat. I was told last minute the fufu with egusi and fish would be 28 I said okay and did not mind. He made an error on a dish and had to remake it. I still tipped as it is a small business but the order took an hour to complete when it was supposed to be 35mins. The egusi taste old as if it was reheated and bland. This is not the same experience I’ve had before. If each item was 18,18,28 with out tax? With tax it should’ve cost at max around $70. Yet somehow it was $83.22 not including a tip. So in total I payed almost $100 for old food. (Besides the fufu being fresh). It’s upsetting.

I’m not an African food expect by any means but I do have 18yrs in the service industry. Our service was top notch. She was very polite and outgoing. Food was different but very flavorful. Took my daughter here because some tictok videos. Glad we tried it out.

The food was delicious. Beside the kababs, all of the dishes had different layers of flavor thanks to the different spices. However, the food was not spicy. Being a small family operated business, the service was very spotty however the service provided by the owner was amazing. Go for the food and set your expectations about service accordingly.

I’ve been googling African food for months and I was dying to try fufu! I found this place and went today! It was PHENOMENAL!! I’ve never tried anything like this before and it was amazing! I went in right when it opened so I had to wait for fresh eggusi, and I had to go home and come back to get it. THATS THE ONLY REASON I AM GIVING A FOUR BUT THE FOOD AND EGGUSI WAS WORTH THE WAIT and everything else was great!! ❤️❤️ The lady that took our order was great and polite as we! Will definitely be going back! Clean, friendly, cute and the flavors is ALL THERE! Thank you!

Food was solid, for sure! If we are rating only on food quality it’s a 4 for sure!
Service was super friendly as well, but you can tell this is a mom and pop operation.
No music, so it’s stiflingly quiet in there.
Needs a little more care and upkeep. Otherwise a cool hole in the wall spot to try some good food. Would definitely recommend if you’re in it only for the taste buds! Again, a 4 if it’s food and service alone we are looking at!

Finally had my 1st experience eating African cuisine. Trust…. I was not disappointed. So me and my partner had Fufu w/ Peanut stew (chicken) Riz creole and Suya plus hot wings. The seasoning used are phenomenal. Everything is cooked to order. I especially enjoyed eating the Fufu with my fingers. The riz creole reminds me of fajitas minus tortillas. The long grain rice mixture….tasty. The sauces accentuate all dishes!! I will definitely return. Service was slow but I was in no rush.

Only giving one star because that’s the lowest possible amount I could give. (FYI I’m writing this as I’m sitting at the restaurant) When coming to this restaurant, make sure to bring a blanket and pillow, because you’ll be able to take several naps by the time you actually get your food. We arrived at the restaurant at opening time. There were others who arrived then as well. They kept us all standing outside as they looked at us until almost 10 minutes past opening time.
Finally they unlocked the doors without telling anyone they had been unlocked. We came in and ordered. An our later, I’m still waiting for my food. Everyone else has been served, and I’m still waiting. The ice has thoroughly melted in my now watered down drink, and I’m probably gonna have to take the food home. Okay good just arrived.
The peanut butter soup. The version I make for Kwanzaa each year tastes LOADS better than this. Oh and by the way the fufu is freezing cold and the soup, even after waiting an hour, is lukewarm.
Chicken and French fries took almost an hour and a half to bring out. And taste wise, none of the food is something I’d pay for ever again. I do not plan on paying full price for this. It’s not good. Not disgusting, but not good at all.
OH! I almost forgot, when we came in, there was a large dead cricket by our table. We told the lady about it. Twice. She said “Oh okay”. An hour and a half later, we are still eating our food next to a large dead cricket.

My husband and I came to try the Fufu with egussi, as many of our friends recommended this place and this dish specifically.
We came in and were standing around by ourselves for a couple minutes to be greeted and told to sit anywhere and were given menus. Looked over the menus and waited 15-20 minutes for the waitress to come back to our table to take our orders. We ordered the fufu with egussi and my husband got fried chicken with cabbage and rice and an appetizer of fried plantains.
His food came out in 20min. then my food took another 15-20 minutes after his. By the time I got my food, I’ve already grown very inpatient just to be very disappointed in the egussi. It didn’t taste seasoned at all. They used canned spinach. The after taste left in your mouth after eating canned spinach overpowered the whole dish. Then to top it off, they dumped the egussi over hard fried scraps of chicken, the chicken wasn’t made with the egussi. It was hard to break the hard fried chicken a part to mix with the egussi and fufu, the small pieces of chicken was hard as bark and unseasoned (also can tasted the bitterness of the old grease on the chicken, should consider changing out). Then a few minutes after finally receiving my meal, the appetizer came out (fried plantains).
By then I got up to stand at the payment station/bar to wait for the waitress to pay for our food and get to-go trays cause my appetite was shot at this point… The waitress never checks to make sure you’re good, ask if the food is good, if you need anything else. You have to chase her down for service… No smiles, felt as if were an inconvenience there. Music was good though.
Just an all around unpleasant first experience, waste of my money and afternoon.
I do not recommend.
