BEST of the best!! Where to start with this gem? Decided I wanted to try something new and found this on Google. Was greeted promptly and warmly (Anjana). Shortly after, the owner/chef (Ranjan) came to greet us and explained the various dishes. Decided to try the Chicken Palandi as per his recommendation. WOW!!! Just wow. So vibrant, delicious, and flavorful. Came to see us after our meal and chatted as we arrived right at opening at 4:00, and he explained the meal that he created for our wonderful and amazing experience. He is SO passionate about his creations and food in general. Such a kind and wonderful soul to have taken the time to see us. Kind sir, I will definitely see you again soon, and thank you so very much for the most remarkable dining experience and making us feel so so welcomed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 5 ⭐ !!!

This was my first time having Sri Lankan food, and I was absolutely blown away by the depth of flavour of each dish! It is no surprise Ceylonta has been around for 32+ years. They were very accommodating with dietary restrictions as well.

We were treated like family, and I can’t wait to return to Ottawa to come back.

GREAT AUTHENTIC Sri Lankan food!!
Had been visiting their 2 locations since 2008.
During recent two visits Anjana was great, customer oriented and coutious!
Mr. Ranjan is known to me since 2008 and always had been amazing,.accommodating and friendly! Will prepare any dish as your spice level.
Specially Thankful to them for accommodating my pet Rose over the last two visits!! Means a lot to us to have our pet family member!

Food was amazing! I’m Pakistani, though I’ve never had Sri Lankan food, had no idea what to expect. The food was so flavourful and it feels like you’re eating a home cooked meal. Pricing is fair for this premium level of food (not necessarily cheap, but it’s very high quality food).

Only complaints: food wasn’t spicy enough I thought (but this is a non issue, will just ask for more chili next time) and the server who served us was kind of talking too fast .

Would still rate this place 5 stars overall though! Come with your friends and loved ones!

Overall this is a resteraunt I keep turning to. Date night, group dinner, doesn’t matter this place blows my socks off. Listen to the server’s recommendations they’ll never steer you wrong. My partner is celiac and this is one of the few places in Ottawa we consistently trust. Ceylonta never disappoints.

Excellent parottas and fresh sambol. Ranjan also sent over some nice coconut milk gravies and a simple yet flavorful cauliflower mash. I’m definitely going to be back to try more of their fare!

This was my first time having Sri Lankan food, and it ended up being in the top 10 best meals I’ve ever had. The service was fantastic too. If I lived in Ottawa, I’d be back weekly to try everything on the menu. It’s no wonder they’ve been around for as long as they have.

This is a pretty interesting place. I saw it on one of those lists for cool meals to try in Ottawa.
I have to say the food was pretty good but things seemed off a bit.
We somehow had two servers competing with each other. The first server basically told us what we were going to eat, even ordering a dish for us. The second server seemed annoyed that we weren’t ordering more.

The music in the space was very eclectic to say the least.
Either way, the coconut sambal was amazing and definitely worth the trip. I think I will have to explore other things on the menu before I make another recommendation.

I rarely write reviews, but our visit to this Sri Lankan restaurant was truly disappointing and frustrating. From the moment we stepped in, the owner’s attitude was extremely off-putting. Instead of letting us order what we wanted, he insisted we choose dishes he recommended, completely disregarding our preferences.
When the food finally arrived, and to our shock, the food was absolutely terrible. It was bland, lacked flavor, had almost no salt, and overall tasted like it hadn’t been prepared with any care. We had to ask for salt just to make it somewhat edible. Even then, the taste didn’t improve. The portion size for the price was a complete rip off ridiculously small and nowhere near worth what we paid.
To make things worse, the chicken dish we received was undercooked and rare. When we brought our conerns to the owner’s attention, instead of apologizing or offering to fix it, he argued with us and claimed “this is how they make thier food and these are best dishes. We ended up not eating the food, yet he still made us pay in full about $35 for one inedible dish.
On top of that, he was yelling at his staff for no reason, creating a very tense vibe. What concerned us most was the state of the kitchen. It was visibly dirty and disorganized. One of the staff opened a back door leading directly to the parking area, and the dust blowing into the kitchen was unbelievable. Yet, food was still being prepared in that environment, no hygiene standards whatsoever.
Overall, this place was a complete disaster. Between the rude service, poor hygiene, bad food, and unprofessional behavior, I can honestly say I will never return. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are far better places in the city that serve authentic Sri Lankan food with proper hygiene and respect for customers.
