Quaint storefront cafe for hearty Mexican & Salvadoran meals with colorful cocktails.

Very tasty Mexican restaurant with visibly vibrant, fresh ingredients. Salsa tastes fresh and not from a jar. Meals were flavored with sautéed and grilled peppers and onions. I have had both steak and chicken here and never wondered what kind of mystery meat was served. Nice tender cuts of meat flavored on the grill with delicious, savory veggies. Cesar’s delivers meals you thoroughly enjoy. Guacamole tasted fresh as well as the sour cream. Rice and beans were served hot as well as the basket of warm tortilla chips to dip in salsa.
Cesar’s delivers fast service by hard-working staff. I had to ask to get any drink reills, but otherwise good service. Noise level still allowed for conversation, but it’s a regularly busy place with a bar / seating, and part of the kitchen / grill are just beside the bar. Overall, Cesar’s is a real treat for quality Mexican food in Springfield MO.

First time visitor to Caesars Old Mexico. The atmosphere is immediately reminiscent of many restaurants we visited in Mexico. Seating is somewhat tight but accommodating. We were there at the height of dinner time with a large dinner crowd people waiting outside. Patron noise level high as could be expected given time of day. Now to the food: I chose the California Barria burrito, wife the shrimp and chicken burrito. Both were presented appetizing and hot. My Barria burrito was HUGE, well prepared and tasty. A doggie bag carried home my following nights dinner The wife’s meal was said to be enjoyable but not exceptional. Service was adequate and timely. I will return for another try at the Barria burrito as it was exceptional. Given the large crowd waiting outside as we left, noise levels and somewhat tight seating experienced on a Tuesday evening consider your timing options.

Our first time here. It was so good!! Seriously, on a cold winter day in the future, I’d buy some “to go” for home. Eating inside is so fun. I love the decor and colors. But I can see eating tacos on a cold snowy day at home!!

Absolutely loved it! I went with a close friend, both of our food was absolutely delicious, huge portions, you can watch them make the food if you sit at the bar! The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was amazing. Definitely recommend!

Ordered chicken quesadillas and they served a soupy chicken fill with little cheese made from one soft tortilla????
The water is poor, so ordered a strawberry margarita, but it was just as poor. The shrimp was salty. The black beans had a strange flavor..Sadly $50 seems a waste. Will NOT visit again.

This restaurant is always busy so they must be doing something right. Food was very good with generous portions. Service was excellent. The restaurant is fairly loud so it makes it difficult to have a real conversation. Overall a positive experience and I plan on returning.

I’ve previously written a review for this place, but I feel like I need to update it. I’ve continued visiting this place for 3 reasons: The people/atmosphere , the food, and the location.
Cesar and his wife Sandy have created a real jewel here. The food is consistent excellent, the service is great, the cooks have GOT to be the hardest working group in town (seriously, go there in the evening and watch from the bar. Best show in town), and all of the staff from Cesar to busboy are fantastic people. This is above all of the kindness and charity Cesar shows the Springfield community. No wonder he has so many return customers with a consistently busy restaurant.
If you’re traveling through, or live here and looking for a great experience along with your Mexican food, stop in at Cesar’s Old Mexico. His Chile Verde in incredible, the pozole is excellent, and the vibe is beyond compare. Well done!

Food was delicious, nice flavor and authentic Mexican vibes. Tortilla chips were fresh and the salsa was good. However, prices are a bit on the higher side which may not align with the casual diner out on a lunch date. If you’re willing to spend a bit more for tasty food, it’s worth a visit!

We understand that restaurants get busy, but our experience at Caesars was extremely disappointing.
We waited over an hour for our food while two couples seated 15–20 minutes after us received their drinks, appetizers, meals, and even their checks before we were served. Delays happen — that’s understandable — but what stood out most was the complete lack of communication. No explanation, no updates, and no acknowledgment of the situation made us feel completely overlooked.
Caesars has a reputation for good service, which made this experience even more surprising. We weren’t expecting perfection, just basic customer care. A quick check-in or apology would have gone a long way.
Sharing this feedback in hopes that management sees it and takes steps to improve communication and service moving forward. It was 2 hours of a wasted day.

All around great Mexican food! The parking is a little tight but the environment is fun! Very eclectic with a huge bar. We arrived around 5:30 and got a seat at the empty bar. Chips and salsa were served and Drinks were ordered within a minute or two of sitting down. The food was out within 10-15 minutes and piping hot. We had the tropico fajitas and they were a hit! Chunks of pineapple, large shrimp, chicken and beef! My wife and I split it – the entree was around $25. For both of us with drinks was around $50 and that was with splitting the fajitas. I loved that they had their own beer which was tasty. The waitress was nice and super attentive. We’d love to come back and try more dishes!
