Continental Bakery was absolutely amazing! Unlike other bakeries where I had to wait 24hrs for a call back, they were so easy to work with — I was able to place my order and have a beautiful two-tier fondant cake for my husband’s 50th birthday without any hassle.
The customer service was incredible!!! The gentleman I spoke with guided me through the choices and made the whole process stress-free and simple. The cake itself was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I chose one tier chocolate and the other vanilla, and everyone loved it! I’m so happy I went with Continental Bakery and will only use them in the future!

First time trying this place. Stopped in for Swedish flop. It was absolutely the worst I’ve ever had. The filling had a funky (unpleasant) taste to it. Difficult to describe, but “chemically” or old or something. No one liked it: it was completely inedible and ended up throwing it away. Unfortunate.

Amazing cake and gorgeous decorating!! We ordered a cake in advance for a Sunday morning pickup and not only was the bakery worker (I think his name was Bob) who I spoke with on the phone awesome, but the cake turned out beautifully and tasted delicious!!! He took time on the phone with me to make sure everything was as we wanted it from flavors to designs, and I’m just so pleased. This was a 1/2 sheet cake with yellow cake, whipped cream frosting, lemon preserves, and fresh strawberries – my new favorite combination, simply perfect for summertime. Everybody loved it! Would highly recommend Central Continental, and we will be ordering from you again for our next big occasion!

Overall this place is fine. Their flavored frostings are delicious. The paczki prices are high- over $6 for the specialities. Unfortunately their dough for the paczki’s are some of the worst I’ve ever had. When we got home and opened the box the smell of old oil was almost over powering. The dough just doesn’t taste good. We had had high hopes after reading reviews, but instead we wasted $77 on paczki’s no one wants to eat.

I hate to write this, but I came in at 8:30 a.m. on a Friday. I’ve lived in the area for five years and had been wanting to try this place for a while. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment.
Everything was fresh, but the taste was really unpleasant. I’m not sure if it was the dough or the oil used, but the flavor was off and left a bad aftertaste—so much so that it even made my coffee taste bad.
Maybe it was just an off day. I don’t know.
That said, the staff was very kind and friendly. I just wish the product matched the level of service they provided.

I have literally been eating here since I was a kid, but they recently provided a wonderful cake and cookie assortment for my own son’s first birthday. The pictures should speak for itself. There is a reason why this bakery has been around for decades, and I appreciate their work and attention to detail.

Since we moved to Mount Prospect in 2022, I have been getting birthday cakes here. My mother also likes to stop here to buy doughnuts or cookies from time to time. Everything we have had has been amazing! They even have a really good flourless cake for the kids with allergies (my nephew has a severe wheat allergy). Sure, I could get a cheaper cake somewhere else, but you get what you pay for here with a high quality product and great service.

Central Continental Bakery is a great place to get all your baked goods. Everything is baked fresh daily and they have a huge variety of ready made all occasion decorated cakes, donuts, cookies, candies, coffee cakes and breads! Everything is made in house and they have daily specials too. From the taste of all the items we have had there, they are made with premium ingredients and they are generous with fillings in donuts and cakes. We love the almond strip and the crumb cakes. They are packed with delicious fillings and the danish dough is nice, flaky and soft. Sadly, a lot of good bakeries in the area have closed shop but this one is still running thankfully! They have plenty of parking on the side and back of the shop. Great old world bakery like the one I remember growing up!
