First time I went I knew I would love it. It’s an old man bar which is not a bad thing at all. It’s just the type of place that I would sit in for hours. Pizza the first time was awesome. It was the closest thing to Hudson County pie I’ve had since moving here. Last time though, something about the cheese tasted off. My wife said it was fine, but I thought it tasted spoiled. We’d still go back in a heartbeat. Staff is friendly but you have to wait a bit because both times I’ve been there there was one person taking orders from both rooms.

The food is amazing. Everything from the mussels (hot) and breaded mushrooms appetizers to the pizza was great. The service was excellent and the outdoor seating under the tent was very comfortable. My friends and I really enjoyed our time there. The prices are incredibly reasonable. If you like a nice cold beer and an excellent pizza, then definitely check them out!

I visited Centre Bar & Pizzeria earlier this week in February 2024. I did not have a pleasant experience. I was never greeted or acknowledged by any staff member when I walked in. I sat at a table near the bar. The bartender was a younger female possibly in her 20’s who saw me but never acknowledged me. As she was behind the bar, she walked towards the front end of the bar several times to see if the two customers who were sitting at the bar near the front door needed anything. I was seated at the first table near the front door, which is near the two customers who were sitting at the front end of the bar. The bartender never once spoke to me, never asked me if I wanted anything to drink or eat. After she got finished serving other guests, she proceeded to be on her cellphone as well as engaged in conversations with other customers. I was the only African American person in the bar and felt discriminated against by the bartender; therefore I proceeded to put on my sweater and I walked out. The bartender definitely needs some customer service and sensitivity training. Every customer should feel welcomed and appreciated when they enter an establishment.

This place is the hole in the wall nobody really knows about. I’m in love with their pizza, it’s like a thin crust bar pie style. Their food over all pretty good. I’ve tried the boneless wings (w/ garlic teriyaki sauce) and they were good, especially the sauce. They have some pretty interesting options to order but you’d have to be in person to see them as they’re listed along their bar wall. Would definitely recommend going to grab a meal, not a place to go on a date but a great place to grab something to eat and grab a drink.

Great food for great prices! The pizza was the best! We tried the mushroom, sausage, and meatball toppings. I always lean toward a meatless meal, but I have to say, the meatball pizza was irresistible! This family owned restaurant has great survice and are all very warm and welcoming!

I live in Carteret and pass this place several times. I friend told me that center bar had good food and good service. Boy was he wrong. Makes me wonder if he knows what good food is. The service was horrible. 3 waitresses standing around and I literally had to ask if they worked there. Place was empty so it wasn’t like they was busy. So after a horrible wait I finally got my very pricey food and when I got home they never gave me my sauce that was supposed to come with a dish I bought. I called them to tell them they forgot to give me my sauce and the rude lady said and I quote: oh well. I will never go back there again. And might make my friend pay me what I spent in that horrible place. If you want a better meal go to McDonald’s or something. Center bar is not a place for good food or service. You’ve been warned.

Get it while the getting is good. Little places like these are a dying Institution. Along with the fancy beers and neat atmosphere comes a longing for home. It’s the kind of place that remind you of a warm environment and a place you can find yourself at peace. It’s the kind of place where the food is good Smiles of warm and the people are friendly.
You have to call ahead to find out when the kitchen is open but when it is boy you in for a treat. The bartenders at super friendly the patrons of good wholesome Folk.

This place is a hidden gem. Don’t let the looks of this place discourage you from coming here but the pizza and clams are awesome . The pizza isn’t the typical Jersey style pizza but it’s friggin awesome. I highly recommend this place for families to dine in or guys to have a get together for a good time…. came back here and stayed away from usual. I had to add that the onion rings are probably the best that I have ever had n the flounder hoagie is awesome.
