Went to their new place on 3rd for their soft opening – WOW!! The food was incredible – we kept ordering more. We had the tostada raspada and the torta ahogada and ended up ordering a bonus sope and chicken enchilada. All really flavorful and the tostadas are so crisp. Don’t miss this place!!

came opening night and it was really nice seeing all the support they got.

service was slow. we waited a while to get our order in, and then waited so much longer to get our food. we ordered the carne pozole and carne original tostada. both were really salty, but otherwise good. the tostada itself was kind of oily too.

we were seated outside. i hope they heaters soon.

So glad we read about this spot! The tostada raspada was excellent, as was the pozole and the potato taco. I’ll be going back. Note: their sauces are hot vs hotter so don’t refuse the sour cream. ️

Food was super delicious, we played it a little safe on the meat choices but the portions and flavors were great. Our servers were so kind and personable, especially for a new restaurant that is surely busy all the time. Great with a group!

The food is unbelievably good. The tostada which is normally the supporting role to a dish is the main character. The cheese tacos dorados were out of this world. I think this might be the best Mexican food I’ve had in Oakland if not the entire Bay. Also the story behind it is incredible as well.

So excited to have this brick and mortar in Jack London. The food is fresh and a BARGAIN for the quality – the tostada was insane and a culinary experience. I also loved their tacos dorados.

Excited to try their other dishes. I’m rooting for them.

This place is so tasty! I’ve been meaning to drop in for some time, finally got around to it and now I’m kicking myself for not getting here sooner. Don’t be me.

We tried a tostada raspada, tacos dorados, pozole, a sope, and a couple tamales. Everything was fantastic, but absolutely do not skip the tostada! We got it with chicken, highly recommend. The sauce they pour on it is just so delicious. Honestly we’d order everything again, there were no misses.

And if they happen to have tamales, the chicken w green mole was so delicious, fluffy and expertly seasoned.

Love the food here. I’ve almost given up finding good tacos in the Bay Area, but the tacos dorados were delicious!
So crunchy and fresh. The little setup in the backyard was very cute. The prices were incredibly reasonable for how well we ate. Looking forward to coming back!

Great find! I wish I lived closer!
If you know cuisine from Guadalajara /Jalisco you will be so glad you found this place! The food is great. This is the first time ever that I ordered a torta ahogada in the States. Usually at other restaurants they have very soggy bread, but at Elviras they have the actual bread you are supposed to use – a sour baguette-Ish which is bolillo salado!
Their spicy salsa is great! Then the Tostadas are so good. Probably my favorite of them all. The tacos are great! My favorite being the papa (potato) tacos. The pozole was also good

The owners as very welcoming and attentive! The actual place is small but so worth the wait. Just make sure you arrive early because they tend to sell out.

If you are used to Americanized Mexican food this will be a change for you. This authentic food/flavors from Jalisco!
