Hadn’t been here since reopened. Thought I would give it a try. Cool atmosphere. Outdoor patio was neat. Food was good. Just nothing spectacular. Ordered mushrooms as appetizer. Was hoping they would be hand breaded like their onion rings but they were just frozen. But they were still good. Had prime rib dip. Good but salty and nothing too special. Fries were good. Their ranch is awesome. Service was attentive, friendly and good.

Was definitely not thrilled with my experience tonight. Never before have I had a complaint. Burger tasted like nothing but char. Two little onion slices the thickness of my patty. Three pickles and a tomato slice thicker than my patty. Didn’t finish it because, I just couldn’t. No discount after complaining to the waitress either. Ridiculous we didn’t get our food either till 6:30 when we got there at 5:42 stamped on the receipt.

This is a really cool spot. I wasn’t sure I was in the right spot because the entrance is in the back, but it’s very fitting to the theme. The food was really solid. Cocktail was a little sweet for me but I should’ve guessed it would be from the description. I’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

We went after peak lunch hours so I’m not sure if its always as fast but our service was quick and the food was out pretty quick. Our waiter was awesome. He was friendly, helpful, and full of jokes which made the experience even better. If you like spicy their hot nash was very tasty and had a nice kick to it.

So glad they are back!! Went to The Cellar for lunch – love the newly remodeled look with both outdoor and indoor seating. Menu is great & staff was friendly. Their famous onion rings are a must! Cheese curds are amazing. We also ordered pizza – delicious & a club sandwich, which was ok. The toast was burnt.
Overall for still being in the “soft opening” stage, I was impressed. The only suggestion, there are only 2 handicap accessible parking spots. We dined with a handicapped friend and the only available parking was way back by Hobby Lobby. I’d love to see a few more handicap friendly spots added.

Stopped here when visiting family for a lunch. Good variety, lots of options whether food or drinks. We visited on a Saturday afternoonn and it’s wasn’t too busy but the wait was over an hour for food. I got one of the specialty burgers and it was really good. Overall would definitely come back, service was nice and staff was kind, just slow day in the kitchen. Nice place for family or friends, good spot in central Kearney too.

Everyone is Happy Celler 2.0 is up and running. We showed up just after 5 O’clock. Got seated fast. Then Everyone started showing up. Everything tasted good. Onion rings are still on point. Great for lunch or dinner. Still new, still getting dialed in. Service was good. Got our food in a timely manner. Happy to have another good place to eat in Kearney.

It’s been 4 years and the last way I described this place was as if old yeller needed to be put down. Well, they finally did, but it looks like some new owners decided to take out the dog from the back yard and put him into the pet cemetery and here we are today.

Because it’s back, and it somehow got worse.

I’m going to try to keep this short for all of you though. First, I want to say that the waitress that we had was awesome. I have nothing against her at all, as she was only working with what the place had to give her.

So, let’s get down to business. First, they removed the wall to the right side that used to be there to make the floorplan a little more open. Sounds good in theory, but what you’re left with now is that it’s gone away from its roots of being a place to get a good steak to “Wow this place is absolutely way too loud”. As if you thought “Hey I’m going to go to a high school cafeteria to pay $30 for some burgers, onion rings, and a drink.”

Which I get the mindset, somewhat. It’s supposed to be more themed to be a sports bar, so let’s get rid of the good foods, charge super high amounts for all the food, and only serve extremely low tier bar food.

We got two sodas, a side salad, and a 14″ pizza today. We waited for about 40 minutes and then our waitress came out with a rack for the pizza and some plates, and we had to tell her we would have to leave soon because we had other things to get back to. She came back just a few minutes later and then told us that the pizza oven was actually down at the moment and our pizza hadn’t been made in that time.

We told her we would have to leave as we couldn’t wait for the pizza, and she apologized and took the pizza off the bill. She comped us for the side salad and the bill was left with 2 sodas and a basket of onion rings.

The total amount for those two sodas and a basket of onion rings? $19.00 ($3 per drink, $13 for the basket of onion rings)

I’ve included pictures of the food experience, where you can see that the salad was definitely old and how the onion rings looked awful and tasted pretty bad too. It was if someone breaded them, then deep fried them just for a few seconds, and then barely shook off the grease and let them sit in the kitchen the whole time.

One of my favorite parts was seeing them bring out a “Clothesline” of bacon to a table of two guys. The bacon was basically hanging from some pins on a little line. We were across the room, and I could tell the bacon wasn’t cooked properly enough and the kicker is they had someone come to their table with a COOKING TORCH for the bacon.

I don’t know if it was to spill bacon grease on whatever was inside that basket, or if it was to cook the bacon longer… But I know that I saw the guys try to eat the bacon after the torch lady left and the guys struggled with cutting the bacon with a fork.

Oh, another thing. All the women that I could see that were serving had a “Lemme get some of that sweet thang” on the back of their black employee shirts. Then the guys from what I could tell were all wearing red employee shirts that said, “Cellar Bar Junke”. Do I have to say more about that?

Keep in mind, you can still look up the prices from when they were last open, and a basket of onion rings were listed as following:

“These are why your friends recommend The Cellar! Hand sliced, breaded in a secret blend and cooked to a crisp. Hours of labor go into making these perfect! Served with our housemade ranch dressing. Large 8.99 Small 6.99.”

Now you only get one size and they’re $13 a basket.

The only thing they got going for them right now is that they’re not as bad as Bico’s was when it reopened the most recent time, but dang they managed to get pretty close to that.

This place is very solid. We had Roxie as our waitress and she is absolutely great. Give that woman a raise! The prices are not too bad at all either.

After taking time to cool down about my experience at The Cellar, I’ve decided to say; to the customers that don’t know, keep in mind that groups 8 or more will have a “large group” 20% fee. Less than a handful of Kearney businesses implement this fee. Respectfully I understand The Cellar does, and at the very least verbally communicating that with potential customers before seating is what (I) would do as an honest business for transparencies sake. It’s a dirty tactic to lure you in, you eat, pay the bill AND you pay the 20% fee, the staff blame you for not looking for the notice on the menu, and then you never return because you may feel deceived.
