This is the best, authentic Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is very homey and feels authentic to a Mexican dining experience. The chile verde enchiladas or delicious They refried beans and rice are amazing. The loco was delicious and so was the spicy bloody Mary.

Been eating at Celia’s for 50 years starting at the one in San Francisco. The food is always great and reasonably priced.

Lovely establishment. Great enchilada & sauce but worst Chili relleno I’ve ever had! Egg “patty” with some (canned) diced green chili smothered in cheese topped with sauce and capers. Capers? Really?

Service was good but slow, priced well, atmosphere was little dark, food was fast to arrive, older place but still good enough for me to return

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. Stopped here while on a road trip and hit the off hour and service was great. Love the chips and salsa. Nice traditional interior with lots of space. Would come back.

Paid $20 for maybe the worst burrito i’ve ever had. It consisted mostly of what tasted like canned refried beans and some cheese, it had maybe one small spoonful of chicken. I would not eat here if I were you

So, I’ve eaten here a few times and the food just keeps getting worse. I’m just going to focus on the guacamole, because if that’s bad you know everything else will be terrible. I attached a picture. First of all it was off color. Like it had been left out for a long time. I knew something was wrong immediately. It had some sort of aftertaste indicating there was a preservative in it. Absolutely awful and the food was no better. I know there’s not too many options for Mexican food in Marin, but do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

I’ve loved this place since I was a kid in the early 70s. Yes, you can find “better” Mexican food in San Rafael but this is comfort food for me. It’s delicious and consistent and exactly what you want it to be every time you go. The service has always been outstanding, friendly, courteous and prompt. And always a fair deal for hearty portions on super hot plates 🙂

Very nice authentic Mexican restaurant in San Rafael. Good combination of dishes with lunch and ala carte items makes this ideal for you to choose whatever your heart and stomach desire.
Very friendly staff that explain well once they know your dietary needs. The dishes are very tasty and as advertised. A bit pricey side for the dishes but overall, I am glad to stop by this place.

Was close to their closing time & I was on a limited budget, they were very helpful in pointing out what on their menu I might get & still have leftovers for another meal, then they didn’t just give me a single portion of flan for dessert, as I’d find out a few nights later, when a different server did give me a single flan, the first visit they doubled the portion, didn’t tell me or charge for it
