My boyfriend has been wanting to try this restaurant and I took him for his birthday. I was a little hesitant, but everything we ordered was spot on, reasonably priced and delicious. We had bacon wrapped scallops, veal, crab cakes and drinks. The have a great drink menu, to include local beer choices. Service was wonderful and they have beautiful views of the river.

What a disappointment. After enjoying a beautiful Christmas holiday experience several years ago, we had our hearts set on Thanksgiving at Cedar Knoll, knowing we’d have a real Americana experience. NOT. Even though we’d requested another room when we made the reservation, we were seated in the LaFayette room. When we entered it was fully lit, all white walls, folding tables with table clothes, not a single center piece on a table. The room lacked any warmth or character, and the management made no effort to create one for this event. If you didn’t know where you were you might think you’d come to a church social or rotary club meeting in a basement.
We were escorted to our table and had to remind the person to check our coats. The waitstaff was stretched, the time between courses was long.
The food was served family style. We had just enough for our party. It wasn’t very hot, but tasted good- though not terribly special. The desserts were definitely not memorable; some cookies and what could have been store bought mini pastries.
Overall, it was not worth the nearly $600 for 4 people. For the room we were significanly overdressed. Jeans and a warm sweater would have sufficed to match the ambiance.
This will not be our first choice in the future, it may not make the list at all unless we’re guaranteed a different room.

Great choice for dinner when the inn at Mt Vernon was closed for a private event, during our visit. If you get a table by the window it’s a great view of the river.

I wouldn’t even give one star if there’s an option!!!! Not a great experience at that restaurant! Ordered oyster Rockefeller, veal scallopini, and jumbo prawns and scallops for Valentine’s dinner and were super disappointed with the food quality and ridiculously long wait for the main course. Definitely not worth a price.

Great spot, some good food, slow service.
Restaurant is across the street from the water and you can enjoy the view from seating indoor and outdoor. Old cozy locale.
I enjoyed the steak tartare and the French toasts. The waffle was crunchy! A little surprised they served it even if it es clearly burned.
The smoked fish appetizer was OK, small quantities and “thrown on the plate”.
Weak coffee.
Service slow and not very attentive. Long wait for the check.

During a recent visit to Alexandria, my daughter took me to this fantastic restaurant, and the entire experience was outstanding! The food was delicious, the ambiance was lovely, and the wine list was impressive. Our server, Ian, was exceptional. We ordered venison, which was cooked to perfection. As a Midwest farm girl who grew up enjoying fresh venison, I can confidently say this was just as good!
I highly recommend the Veal Scallopini—it was absolute perfection. While the meal is a bit on the pricey side (expect to spend around $200), it’s worth every penny. The view of the Potomac River is stunning, and the peaceful patio setting made for a perfect evening. We will definitely be back!

Overall experience was sub par for the pricing. Had the reservation for valentines and they called to ask for card info, they asked if I had seen the fixed menu and I had not but when reaching back out they never provided it nor was it on the website.
Food lacked flavor and was served at room temperature. It felt as if it had been prepared several hours earlier and left in a warmer as some of the meat was rather chewy. The dessert did not match the menu with the exception of the lemon pouset. I ended up with food poisoning most likely from the food being served at room temperature and it was not the valentines I had planned.
Waiter was very inattentive but why would you be when and included 23% is already coming your way. A tip should be earned not guaranteed.

We hosted our wedding reception at Cedar Knoll. The day of was beautiful and staff made us feel like royalty. The facility was set up beautifully and the food was all anyone could talk about. Our cake was delicious as well. We had about 110 guests and really could not have accommodated any more than that (with a dance floor). I would also recommend hiring a separate wedding planner if you book Cedar Knoll as communication and logistics were a challenge to nail down. We did have an outside planner/coordinator and I don’t think we would have been able to execute everything without her.

It was a very quaint and beautiful restaurant with amazing food and service. The wine selection was decent and their menu seems to rotate. It is pricey. No dress code but you will stand out if you dont dress a little nice, even if its jeans and a nice blouse or sweater.

I don’t think I have the right words to properly thank Nathalia and Andrew and the whole team at Cedar Knoll for making our wedding day so special. I was in literal (not good) tears when looking for a wedding venue bc everything was white or light colored and my now hubby and I wanted a gothic/spooky/cozy look. When we went to Cedar Knoll, I could’ve cried tears of happiness that we’d found a place and in our budget! Nathalia and Andrew listened to everything we asked for and they made it all come true like it was *spooky* magic. They are true hospitality professionals and you can tell they take pride in the experience they provide. Our guests had a phenomenal time and still comment on the food and drinks! We also love that we can always go back to Cedar Knoll to celebrate our anniversary!
One of my cousins and her hubby have been to many many weddings and they adorably texted me the day after our wedding to say they had discussed together, and our wedding had the hands down best food of the weddings they’d attended. (Photo credit to Darcy Troutman Photography)
