Scotcheroo: A few years ago, I was browsing the ice cream section when the description of this ice cream caught my eye. At the time, in my ignorance I did not know Scotcheroos are also a type of dessert and not just this flavor of ice cream. So, for those of you who are also behind on the times like I once was, a scotcheroo is a dessert bar made with chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, and Rice Krispies. Apparently the recipe was originally printed on Rice Krispies boxes in the mid-1960s and they remain a popular treat in the Midwest (which explains why I’ve eaten them before, but did not know they were “officially” called Scotcheroos).With that out of the way, Cedar Crest’s ice cream is comprised of butterscotch ice cream, milk chocolate covered crisped rice, and a peanut butter swirl. I was completely wowed by this flavor back then and I still am today! The peanut butter swirl does an excellent job of cutting the super sweet butterscotch ice cream and the milk chocolate crisped rice continue to be a real game changer. Not only did the rice stay nice and crispy, but the pint is just absolutely teeming with them. Doughboy approved

Cheap ice cream! Since this is a store front with the plant in the back the prices are very reasonable and the yummy ice cream is fresh. This is a small store front with seating for about 20. Outside the a several picnic tables and a good size grassy space to enjoy your selection I. The shadow of a huge cow! During our summer visits the outside area is well used and the line is out the door.
If you love icee cream this is a must stop and only a couple of blocks form Lake Michigan.

Delicious ice cream! We live in Florida, and every year when we come up here we make it a point to have Cedar Crest ice cream at least once! Their ice cream is always creamy, their quality control superb; and from their wide variety of flavors, we’ve never tasted a bad one. As you can see from the photos, I brought along a box of Pocky to put on top. (It was SO good!)

The ice cream is great but the 3 teens working behind the counter were not very personal (I don’t think they wanted to be there). However we were served quickly and enjoyed our 2 ice cream bowls and the pup cup.

So many choices of flavors! I would like to see a QR code on the signs outside and as you come in to go to each flavor and explain what it is. When you get up to the counter, you don’t want to take too much time figuring that all out. There are options for drinks as well. I have really enjoyed each flavor I have tried. Kids love getting a picture with the cow statue outside.

Always a line that moves quickly. If you can’t find a flavor to your liking, you are extremely picky!! Ice cream is PREMIUM. None of the cheap stuff that melts as soon as they scoop it. Always worth the trip.

Literally the best ice cream out there. They always have so many options for you to choose from and always let you taste it before you get it. Be sure to ask for your scoop stamp card because they typically forget since they are normally so busy.
