I’d highly recommend the Brussel Hash, Hangover Bowl, & Chicken & Waffle. All the beverages were great from the Bloody Mary to the Cedar Mimosa.
The food was quality, but rather small portions. The service received felt rushed – forgetting to bring a biscuit for 10+ minutes after delivery our main course. The beignets were good, not great. The yuca toast was good, but a very small portion that should be an app not a meal.
We will return as we want to explore more of the menu. However, the 1 hour vacation they boost about on their website wasn’t my experience.
We started with the spicy candied sprouts, a wonderful combination of roasted Brussel Sprouts, hot honey, spicy candied bacon, and served with house-made ranch ($11). These were definitely spicy, but were very tasty and a wonderful dish to share as an appetizer.
The ladies shared the chicken & waffles, a large plate of fried chicken, served on a house waffle, with hot honey, spicy candied bacon, butter, and powdered sugar ($19). This featured some of the same ingredients as the sprouts, but was a much sweeter dish thanks to the sugar and waffles. They were very happy with the choice, and this is available on both the brunch and dinner menus.
I ordered the Greek chicken wrap with shredded chicken, hummus, pickled red onions, cucumber, feta, and cilantro vinaigrette, all wrapped in naan bread and served with house-cut fries ($16). This was really good, and I especially liked the tangy cilantro vinaigrette sauce. The fries were also very good. This dish is also available on both the brunch and dinner menus.
We chose to sit at the bar, though the restaurant also offers low-top tables, booths, and standard dining seating. The bar service was quick and friendly, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu. The menu itself is fairly small but thoughtfully curated, offering solid breakfast options.
My partner ordered the skillet bowl, and I went with the chicken and waffles. Both dishes were fantastic. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy, and the waffle was fluffy and full of flavor, complemented by a hot honey maple syrup that was outstanding. I also ordered a Bloody Mary, which was easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time—well-balanced, flavorful, and expertly prepared.
Overall, Cedar offers a vibrant, clean, and welcoming dining experience. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere evokes the warmth of a country kitchen—perfect for a satisfying breakfast and a great start to the day in the Covington/Cincinnati area.
The restaurant was beautiful and the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen.
Service was phenomenal. I sadly forgot her name, but I can’t wait to come back and see her again.
Highly recommend.
Special shoutout to Alex D for serving our table and welcoming us on our first time visiting!
