I have been enjoying Cecilia’s food for years. Best empanadas and tamales in town! I heard they got a new chef and looked at the brunch menu, and told my GF we gotta go! Everything was deeeeelicous! Are server was wanderful! And luckily a lovely day to sit outside! Looking forward to eating through the menu!

The other three people in my party of four had salads, and enjoyed them. I ordered a cheese omelet. ACK! I swear the cheese tasted (and looked) like Velveeta. Being served lukewarm didn’t help. The small serving of potato “chunks” were almost inedible: WAY too heavily seasoned. The last of the three plated items was a collection of tiny (seriously tiny, as in, “Is there enough substance here to sink a fork into or should I just scrape it into the spoon?) pieces of fruit, pineapple, strawberry and blueberry, and tasted fine…if you like your fruit served a couple of days before it’s ripe. The coffee was also lukewarm (which is a crime punishable by death in some places) being served out of a nearby carafe that had apparently been filled earlier in the week. To be fair, we showed up half an hour after noon so maybe they were just sending us a message to get up earlier if you want breakfast? To which I would reply, “Maybe don’t hand me the breakfast menu?” The service was excellent, room was clean and well decorated, but the combination of concrete floor and assorted other hard surfaces made for an intense noise level. Would I go back? Sure. But I’ll order a salad so the chef won’t have to waste any more of his Velveeta on someone who appreciates good cheese…

My family and I came by for a family birthday dinner. Atmosphere was a little too dark for my taste. Looking at the pictures quickly, I was expecting a bright atmosphere but at night the lights were very dimmed. Bathrooms were clean and the restaurant smelled amazing walking in.

Our server was attentive and professional. She was the only server on the floor and did great. My only complaint is, we were never asked how the checks were going to be split. It was assumed it was going to be one check. That’s fine. I can live with that. Where my problem lies is that there was gratuity added and we were not told as a courtesy. At the bottom of the check where we sign the merchants copy had “suggested tip.” So we assumed tip had not been added. So we tipped on top of the gratuity and the bill. It just left a bitter taste because as someone who has been in the food industry, we always let guests know if there was gratuity added. It just didn’t sit right with me. I did not notice till I looked at my customer copy the following day.

Now to the food, my empanadas were really good. I had the chicken and the beef ones. They were flaky and delicious. My sister devoured her salmon. As for the other plates eaten, they were okay. Mom had a Nicaraguan tamal and my husband had a savory crepe in which both lacked flavor.

Overall, it probably will not be a repeat on our books.

Been here several times and it is always lovely and easy to taste the love in the food. This time Taylor (I hope I got your name right) was our server and he was helpful, professional, funny, and made me feel very at home. LOVED the brioche under the Benedict… perfect sweetness with the salmon.

Lovely restaurant for brunch with very efficient service and several delicious options. The atmosphere was great and there is outdoor seating as well. Plus they source with locally grown organic ingredients. You can get a variety of items for brunch ranging from soups, crepes, empanadas, tamales, benedicts, etc. They also have a wonderful list of sweet crepes.

We love Cecilia’s. We have been coming since they opened, and prior to that, we had been frequenting their food truck. We were really hoping for something fabulous to come into the spot they now occupy, since it is so close to our home, and we were very happy to see Cecelia‘s not only arrive, but hoist a tent and be able to have outdoor dining to survive Covid. We have had many of the items on the menu, and especially love the mushroom crêpe, the French onion soup, and the tamales. We were there the other day, and really had a beautiful meal. See photos. My only complaint is that sometimes when we go, the food is excellent, and sometimes when we go, the crêpes don’t have as much stuffing. So it’s a little inconsistent. I love to take friends here, and tell them the crepes are wonderful, and bonus that they are gluten-free, and then sometimes the stuffing will not be particularly filling, and it’s a bit disappointing. But I’d say eight times out of 10, the food quality is excellent. Certainly a favorite lunch place of ours. My only suggestion would be to watch consistency, and make sure those crêpes are full and lovely, with lots of stuffing! Today’s visit was excellent! P.s. Don’t skip out on the French onion soup. It really is beautifully done!

UPDATE:
Had the Popeye and it had a lot of good spinach!

The experience of dining outside with the sun shining was fabulous. The patio is large, plenty of space, and the tables are cute. If they ever throw a block party style event here, it would be so cool, the location is perfect.

Our waitress with the long feather earrings was a damn delight. She was friendly, attentive, and when there was an issue with receiving the wrong item, she resolved it beautifully, which I super appreciate.

The niçoise salad my friend got was large and she seemed happy with it. The dressing we both got was incredible – some balsamic situation that was perfectly balanced.

The sausage patty was well seasoned. The fruit in the fruit plate was fresh and flavorful. The beef in the carne empanada was well seasoned.

Now for the less than stellar bits:
The mushroom tamale was bizarre. The filling was underseasoned and contained roughly one and a half button mushrooms; the masa was bland and bordering on gummy. A bummer, because it came beautifully wrapped in the corn husk

The breakfast potatoes were good, par boiled before making so they were cooked through and seasoned with a tasty rosemary blend. I wish they were a bit crispier.

The food was solid, the mimosa was (properly) mostly champagne, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance was sweet. I’d definitely come here again.

The place looks a little deserted from the outside, but it is a cute place to hang out! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The tamales and the empanadas were delicious! (Highly recommend the tamales) the smoked salmon crepe was VERY cheesy, a bit too much for me. Otherwise I really enjoyed it!
