Took my mom here for her birthday dinner and it was a success! The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and fast, and the live music was a great bonus. Pasta and pizza were a hit, but the table side cesar salad was amazing. Would definitely recommend and come back for another visit. They also have a farmers market in their parking lot weekend mornings.

Expectations are everything. If you haven’t been before, then know this – Cavatore is not a white table cloth, highly inventive, fine cuisine-type of Italian restaurant. It is a family friendly, neighborhood spot with a cozy atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. We had the spaghetti and meatballs, the pasta Giancarlo, and a glass of wine while we sat the bar. Piano player was very talented, as well! It was a nice casual dinner out. Food costs have gotten higher, but we didn’t leave hungry by any means. Tiramisu was delicious – very well balanced. It’s a family run, casual establishment in the Heights, and we enjoyed our evening here.

I had an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was 100% very attentive and friendly. I ordered the red snapper and it was absolutely delicious. And the desserts… don’t even get me started, they were incredible. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Ugh, this place makes me sick just thinking about it. I knew something was off with the food and I should’ve trusted my gut. A few hours later, my husband and I were both dealing with severe abdominal pain and nonstop diarrhea. Absolutely 110% would not recommend. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that actually serves quality Italian food—this place isn’t it.

This is quite little place with a lot of charm. The service was excellent. We went for a birthday dinner and they were so accommodating. The food was plentiful, for the price point. There are two price points, one is the lunch price. If you get a chance to dine here, do it.

I came here for New Year’s Eve and was happy I did.

We had a slight bump in the beginning with our reservation that was handled.

I liked the Western decor inside which had an Italian blend from old movie pics and photos on the wall.

My girlfriend and I ordered the Calamari which was crispy, well seasoned, and cooked just right.

For our main course, I had The Vitello Alla Marsala, and it was tender, well flavored and delicious.

My girlfriend had the lasagna which she loved and looks forward to the leftovers to munch on today.

I loaded up on so much of the delicious garlic bread that I have leftovers to look forward to as well.

The service was good, the folks here are friendly and attentive.

Great experience, and look forward to coming back again.

I went to Cavatore for a Greater Heights Chamber meeting. The food was great and so was the service. The owner came out and introduced himself. I will be returning. A 10 out of 10.

Just discovered Cavatore in the Heights — hard to believe this gem has been around since 1984! The atmosphere is warm and charming, making you feel like you’re dining in Italy. The food was fantastic and authentic — we enjoyed antipasti, pizza, Pollo Rollatini, and lasagna, all perfectly prepared. Plus, their Monday special with 50% off bottles of wine is a great bonus. A true Houston classic!
