We stopped at Cavallario’s on our last night in A-bay on October 4th. The restaurant was amazing, clean, welcoming and appropriately set for large or small dining parties.

We were greeted and given our choice of inside or outside dining. We chose outside as it was still warm and there was live music being set up.

For an appetizer we went with the French onion soup and Prime Rib, Provolone & Hot Pepper Crispy Rolls. Both were spectacular. We chose hard seltzer for our drinks. For the main course we went with the filet and the 14oz Rib eye. The steaks were tasty, but not exceptional. I chalk this up to it being the end of the season and they were running out of stock. For dessert we went with the only available option, carrot cake. Which while good was not what I had originally wanted.

Overall, the service was exceptional, the food was good and the atmosphere was great. We’ll be back next season to give them another try.

This is our main place to dine when we go to ABay. We have tried most of the other restaurants in town in the many years we have been going to the islands and this is our constant we keep going back to and stick with every time. The atmosphere is great, the staff is attentive and friendly and always accommodating, and the food is always fantastic. After dinner we usually venture to the outside bar and listen to music. It’s a great time and one of our favorite places.

Another amazing visit to Cavallario’s, my must go to when visiting ABay! The ambiance alone is worth a visit! Both the outdoor bar and patio and indoor bar and restaurant area are trendy and give off the vibe of upscale dining. The knight from past eras still overseeing the indoor seating is reminiscent of earlier times for the establishment. I ordered the Steak Maison which was cooked to perfection of medium rare, the Bernaise sauce brings it up a notch with some crab shredded on top. Only the Alaskan crab topping was questionable as it was shredded and not the texture of authentic Alaskan crab but was still delicious. Mashed potatoes were scrumptious and fresh hot bread with butter. No dipping oil for the bread and salad is now a separate but with the cost of food rising and the economy in general that is understandable. Amazing food and great service at the bar! I stopped back Sunday and scored a high top on the patio with an amazing view of the stage. I ordered another favorite the prime rib, provolone, and pepper in an egg roll with a tangy, spicy dipping sauce! The patio is packed and service is slower but that’s what you would expect at the most popular restaurant in town! I hope to be back this season, I’m intrigued by the stuffed shrimp entree!

Visited Memorial Day weekend. We beat the rush so seated immediately. I get steak Maison every visit it’s my favorite and on my must have list every visit to ABay! Unfortunately this visit was a miss. I ordered the steak Maison medium rare with mushrooms on the side and a pomegranate martini. Martini was refreshing perfect Pom a bit sweet. Service was prompt even with the dinner crowd picking up. Upon delivery the steak Maison was served with mushrooms on the side but also mushrooms on top with Bernaise sauce over the mushrooms and if possible even less crab than last visit. I had to scrape off the mushrooms myself which receded the toppings. Bernaise sauce was replenished but the few shavings of crab were lost in the mess. Once I cut in to the medallion it was extremely rare. I ate half and it was not the meal I am usually over the moon for. Disappointed but still ok. I don’t recall either of the two servers asking how my meal was or offering to refresh drinks. They did get to go containers promptly. I always enjoy the atmosphere here, I will try again. I think I’ll go a different direction with my meal choice next visit.

Came here during the Pirate Weekend festivities and it was busy!! We had drinks and appetizers which were very good!! The staff was very professional even though it was crazy. We went into the bar after adding our names to the wait list and found seats immediately so we ate there and enjoyed watching all the people. All apps were excellent choices from the menu. We will definitely be back while visiting the area!

To start with, we did get a table early, we did get our first drinks quickly and we waited 30 mins for appetizer which was overpriced and sparingly and presentation was lousy not quality. It took an hour and 42 mins until we got our main order without informing us for a long wait.. we ordered Ribeye and were served cheap dry sirloin steak and did not taste seasoned for a 36$ steak!!!! And there was no AC, I overheard the lady to turn on and off the AC in a very hot weather !!! We had to let them know that there was an option for fries for kids if they will add on again extra dollar to our order. . and worst the food was not hot at all for a 180$ !!! It’s very disappointing and upsetting and no salad for the meal but and still have to add on for extra 2.99 and mashed potatoes were warm, my goodness! It wasn’t worth it!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMENT THIS PLACE!

My husband and I were walking around Alexandria Bay and Cavallario’s caught our attention because they had live music on their patio. We decided to stop for a drink and some light apps and to enjoy the music. The bar was pretty crowded, but there were two bartenders working. We ordered and waited a while for our drinks. I ordered the Island Girl cocktail. Our bartender kept chatting with other patrons instead of getting our drinks. I ordered a Caesar salad and my husband got the lobster tail app. They were good, but pretty small for the price. We were definitely expecting a bit more food. Overall, very underwhelming. We had to wait a long time for the check and in fact the other bartender who was much more efficient, ending up bringing it to us. The music was nice and the patio was a great place to relax and enjoy the music. I don’t think I would come back for the food though.

Very high end restaurant in the heart of Alexandria Bay! It’s a little high in the price range but I think it’s worth it. The food is so delicious!! My mashed potatoes tasted like it’s made from scratch and not from a can! My calamari was perfect! Nice and crisp! My steak was nice and juicy!! I love them medium rare and it was!! The customer service was friendly and courteous ! They made me and my family felt like we belong! They didn’t judge us by how we looked. They treated us like proper customers. We appreciated that. I’ll probably come back again once I saved some $$$$!

We were happy to find Cavallario’s open on October 4th at 8 p.m., since so many other places had already closed for the season (we had no idea about “the season” before visiting 1,000 Islands area) or had closed very early evening. We ordered wine (decent selection), blue cheese stuffed filet, and the steak maison. They serve bread coated with a garlic butter topping, which, while it is a bit sloppy to cut and serve, was delicious! Our filets were tender, cooked to perfection (medium… ‘raw’ and cool in the middle) and were excellent cuts of meat. I highly recommend if you are in the area. They play excellent music to set up a nice romantic dining experience. The reason I am giving it a 4, is because of the lighting. It was incredibly bright and disturbed the ambiance, which was a real shortcoming of an otherwise excellent dinner.

We thought we were walking into a 1970s eatery and expected to see Dirk Diggler but the place was updated and had great food and service. The escargot was cooked perfectly along with the scallops. The calamari was good but did not expect a spicy sauce. Service “bartender” was great!

4 people, all the meals were not good. I had a rack of lamb, the meat tasted old and it was sitting in a pool of oil/grease, the mint jelly looked like it was scooped out of a jello cup and it was served in a plastic cup, the mashed potatoes weren’t worth eating all of and it was a $40 dish that came with no salad or vegetable. My sister had the crusted pecan salmon which hadb whole pecans just sitting on top and a sweet glaze on top, they weren’t baked with the salmon, it was just gross. My Aunt had French onion soup which was good but her lobster escargot was a just few pieces of lobster in cheesey oil pool with no garlic or flavor. My mother had angel hair spaghetti with their homemade sauce, it was very bland but the most edible of all the dishes. They should just buy their sauce from the grocery store though. It was expensive which would have been fine if the good was any good. I would have rather had Subway or anything then what we had. I hardly ever leave reviews, but you should know not to come here! It’s not worth it and we regret choosing to eat here. We won’t be back. Our server, Grace did a good job.
