We’ve had Caulfield’s on our list to try for a while and we were not disappointed! The space is cute and welcoming and the menu is a combination of small, sharing plates and larger entrees. They have a large wine selection and a nice cocktail list as well.
We started with the chicken egg rolls, followed but muddled with an order of the duck-fat potato wedges then the cheesesteak. We finished it off with the chocolate pot-de-crème.
Hands down the cheesesteak was our top hit. It was phenomenal, the steak was cooked perfectly and the cheese whiz was delightful. The house-made chips on the side were truly a standout part of the dish—perfectly crispy and expertly seasoned.
The rest of our order was equally delicious with a special call-out to the potato wedges (wow!). We will definitely be back!
(As an added bonus they have a ton of great specials including a happy hour and – as we learned today- a date night special for half off bottles of wine!)

2nd visit. The happy hour until 5pm includes half off wine by the glass and virtually all apps and small plates. On this visit tried the Brussels sprouts and they were great. Super char and the various ingredients blended well. Definitely spicy. 3 of us had the $10 pound Monday classic mussels and enjoyed it. The sauce very tasty and they happily supplied extra bread so you can sop up all the delicious sauce.

My friends and I visited Caulfield’s last night, and we were so impressed! We found it via the Journal Sentinel article about the best gluten free fish fries in MKE, and it did not disappoint. It was great fish & even more impressive that it was GF. We also got the Brussel sprouts, bleu cheese dip, and I got the salmon entree – all were so tasty. Mayra provided great service too! Support this local business! We will be back!

So glad I was finally able to make it to Caulfield’s! Stopped in at the tail end of happy hour (half off beer & wine!) so that was a nice surprise. Started with the house made pickle plate and then ordered the burger and banh mi as our mains – everything was amazing. Service was friendly and attentive and we loved the interior of the restaurant, original and unique features included! Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.

Wine flight, all 4 not distinguished. Tried 3 half off appetizers during happy hour. The bruschetta was high flavor, but the topping was too cold straight out of the fridge. Would have tasted better closer to room temp. The thai egg rolls disappointing. No lemongrass flavor. Without the peanut dipping sauce, would have been a bust. Had I been paying full price for 2 rolls, would have been outraged. The potato wedges in duck fat crispy. Feel free to ask for ketchup. Very clean.

We arrived for brunch at 1 p.m. to find the restaurant uncrowded, with a few patrons at the bar and a couple of occupied tables. The ambiance and decor were lovely, featuring comfortable seating and well-spaced tables. I started with a Caulfield’s Bloody Mary, requesting a blue cheese olive (a $1 upcharge, I later discovered on my bill). As a Bloody Mary aficionado, it was fantastic, clearly made from scratch with a perfect balance of flavors. I’d return just for that! For our meal, my boyfriend and I both ordered the biscuits and gravy with two poached eggs. He also added a side of bacon and roasted duck fat potatoes. My poached eggs were perfectly cooked, but the biscuits and gravy were just okay. The gravy, made with chopped sausage links instead of the traditional ground sausage, lacked seasoning/flavor, and the biscuits, while okay, could have used a bit more flavor and seemed a little doughy in the middle. The bacon was high-quality, reminiscent of Nueske’s. The roasted potatoes were good, though I prefer them a lot crispier. While I wouldn’t necessarily order the biscuits and gravy again, I’d definitely come back to try lunch or dinner. My only suggestion would be to inform customers about any upcharges, such as the $1 for a single blue cheese stuffed olive. The total bill came to $71. Please note that there is street parking. Giving 4 stars because of the bloody.

In an area with lots of bars and several restaurants, Caulfields stood out as a bit more high end. We usually don’t choose wine bars, but the menu looked intriguing. Besides the huge wine list, their cocktail menu was also extensive. Two of us chose a boar sausage dish with a fabulous sauce over what seemed like scratch pasta. Our 3rd person had a sandwich with a pork loin and pulled ham, pickles and sauce. Tender and very tasty. The chips were a bit salty for her taste. We also shared Mac and cheese bites over a homemade slaw. Outside was light and crispy, while the Mac was creamy. The slaw was also good. Overall prices are reasonable for the portions. The decor is dark. Black trim, tables and chairs. I bit difficult to read the menu. Bar was noisy but dinning area was quiet overall until a larger party came in. The servers were very attentive. Clean restrooms with more black decor with skulls.Would return to try other options.

The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the service were wonderful! One member of our party has strict dietary restrictions and the waitstaff did a great job of taking note and was knowledgeable about alternatives. Additionally, she took the time to speak with the chef who even made recommendations as to keep both the quality of the food and still get the best flavor despite substitutions. Although we went when the restaurant was quiet, I would think that quality of care and attentiveness extends during all hours!

Nice wine bar! Loved the sauv blanc. The espresso martinis were delicious, not heavy at all. Staff were super friendly and gave us lots of recommendations for the area. Would love to come back and try some of the food, menu sounded delicious.
