The #1 Steakhouse in SD. If beef is what you’re looking for this is the place! Sawdust on the floor (there’s a story behind it), full bar, wonderful wine selection. My Dad, Myril, opened the Cattleman’s in Pierre In 1986. We opened the Mitchell Cattlemans in 2014. Stop in and check out the new remodel and have a great steak! Cindy

Absolutely amazing!! Steak is juicy and, tender, grilled to perfection. Service is amazing, give a shout out to my server Margaret, she was promising, friendly and went beyond, very polite and, always smiling. Highly recommend

The food and service were absolutely amazing!! He had the 24oz bone in ribeye, and I had the 14oz sirloin. Mine, I ordered well done, and it was. I only mention that because it’s very uncommon to get a well-done steak that is both juicy and tender. He says his was perfect medium. The drinks and desserts were also great.

Top 5 ribeye hands down. Seasonings were on point. Baked potato was done right. Salad was fresh with a unique twist of adding your own toppings! Im a butter snob so hear me out, with first class food you can’t serve artificial topping. Still 5 star overall

Steak was 5 stars on flavor, I ordered mine medium, it came out medium rare but was good. Not a fan of making my own salad. How can this be sanitary if they pass toppings to other tables? If you are gonna charge steakhouse prices, I should not have to build my salad, fight unwrapping butter and sour cream packets. At least use ramekins. Chairs are very worn. Server was very friendly, but not that attentive. Fried green beans were awesome. Overall it was good though.

This was a horrible experience. We waited for over an hour for our food. We were told our food was being platted and still waited 20 minutes before the food came out cold. There were people that were seated after us and got their food before us. We had a small child with us and they ran our milk, chocolate milk and juice. There were multiple staff members available so I don’t think staffing was an issue. We were not checked on once to see if we needed refills. I understand things happen but this was a lot. There was another table that left because their wait was taking too long as well. I hope the service gets better at this establishment because it has potential to be decent. I recommend the manager work on his customer service and work on making things better for his customers when things are not going go how they should. Our waitress was very sweet and we don’t blame her for what happened with the wait time on the food. There is room for improvement at this place.

Wonderful evening in your establishment, great cocktails , a perfectly cooked steak! Coral was delightful server with many great suggestions. All your staff are wonderful ambassadors of you brand. See you next we roll through. And to the butter snob, they have real butter.

We had a wonderful dining experience! Great food, drink , and hospitality! The four of us started with fried green beans and cowboy bites. Both hot & tasty! For main meal we all had steaks, done from rare to well, all perfectly grilled. The steak seasoning was delicious and all of our different side were equally delicious! We have made this a recurring stop , annually for the Sturgis rally and plan to for the future. Myril’s story shares history and insights to the operation and ambiance. Awesome place!

We are traveling from Michigan going to the Badlands and we happened to see this place after getting off this same exit for a restaurant that we couldn’t find so we quickly decided to go to your place Boy, are we glad we did! Great food!
I hate seeing blood or pink in my steak but after I cut into it, it was a little pink but I tried it anyways and wow! Was I surprised at how well it tasted! I didn’t need any dipping sauce for my steak! it was so good tasting!
First steak I have wanted to eat that was pink.
Our whole party liked their food (even kids), which is surprising.
Our server was excellent in service and friendliness & the restaurant and bathrooms were clean.
I am so glad we found this place

**UPDATE to my UPDATE**
**** I took your advice and after doing some reading, it looks like the majority of the complaints, Austin, all involve you.
…better to take a hint and get a different manager…
Please don’t call the cops on me, Austin! ****

**UPDATE**
*** Thank you to the owner who is basically calling me an idiot (foolish) for not having properly researched a restaurant that I was not impressed with. (Who sits down to research first impressions?)
Well, I left my honest OPINION of the establishment I walked into. Again, I wasn’t impressed in the least bit. However, having now been properly and politely educated from the OWNER, I can see and understand why there are wood shavings on the floor. Thank you for kindly explaining that to me… only to turn around and push the knife deeper with your next sentence when you called me foolish. GREAT Managerial Skills!

I stand behind my original post, besides the wood shavings. The bar is nice, but the tables and booths again remind me of a legion hall from the 80s or 90s. For a prestigious CLUB, it looks trashy.
The gal who helped me was polite and courteous, clearly unlike the owner.

P.s. the burger did LOOK good, but nothing paired well together.

P.p.s. because of this interaction with the “Owner,” I am changing my rating to 1 star

Enjoy!!! ***

**ORIGINAL POST**
This was my first time in Cattleman, and for a “Club,” the place was very, very disappointing. As I walked in, I felt like I was in a legion club from the 90s.
The wood shavings on the floor have been done before and should definitely be left where it started.
The whole place looked trashy. Reminds me of The Jackpot turned into The Back 40, which only looked more trashy. Zero originality and the same with the execution. (No wonder why it’s closed…)

I tried the Burger for the Battle, Hawaiian Spice and left a review for that, too. It’s not much better than the restaurant, sadly.
My first time here is January 29th, 2025, and my last.

Oh, the burger was very well priced. The best thing about it, sadly. (It was takeout, and I’m happy I didn’t have to sit in there)

Was passing through. Food was fast hot and fresh. Ordered cube steak. It was covered with caramelized onions and steak potatoes seasoned perfectly. Portion was big, second half was road snack next day and was still quite tasty.
