I went to Catrina’s once and ordered a breakfast burrito with egg, potato, cheese, and bacon. I get home and I cannot see or taste any bacon in the burrito. So I go back to Catrina’s the next week and order the same burrito this time with extra bacon. The same exact thing. I could not see or taste any bacon whatsoever. Attached is a photo of the terrible burrito I received. Anything that looks like bacon in the photo is not, it is the skin side of the potato. Seriously how hard is it to put a decent amount of bacon in a burrito. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be going to Catrina’s ever again.

I visited Catrina’s Express in Peoria yesterday and was seriously impressed. The food was amazing — I had the steak nachos and steak tacos, and both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. They also serve free chips and salsa, which were fresh and delicious.
There was a small miscommunication with my order, but the service was above and beyond. When I came back to clear it up, the man working was incredibly kind and understanding. He even gave me free rice and beans, which I had originally thought came with my order. That kind of care really stood out to me.
I’ve been in the service industry for over 12 years, and it’s rare to come across service that feels both genuine and generous. Great food, great people — I will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

My boss and I ate at Catrina’s yesterday and the food was great! We had the Jalisco Steak Burrito and the Hidalgo Quesadilla with a side of guacamole. Everything came out very quickly and tasted fresh. The best part of the experience was Antonio. He was working cash register, serving tables, and helping in the kitchen. He was working all over the place and still took the time to talk with us. Super friendly and inviting. He said his favorite is the El Pastor, so if you’re into that, definitely give it a try. Thanks Antonio!

Easily my favorite place for Mexican food in the area, the carne asada nachos are my favorite menu item. The food is always delicious and it’s obvious great care is taken with the preparation. The guacamole amazing. We always have a wonderful experience at Catrinas. Very highly recommend.

Great place for fast, authentic Mexican food. I work near there and visit almost once a week, for both breakfast and lunch. The staff is great, friendly, and quick. Menu is small but that’s good. A few great items done right. I’ve been so glad to see it grow to what it is today. If you’re in the area, it’s busy. Get there early for lunch, but even if you have to wait, it’s worth it.

Delicious food. The carne de asada is fresh meat with fresh veggies finely chopped tasting authentic taste vs American Mexican tacos. The flavor is savory and the salsas are spiced perfectly. The staff is kind and make you feel welcomed. The seating area is small but calm and peaceful. It is also a clean environment.

We just recently tried Catrinas for the first time and I think I might have to say that this might be my favorite place to go for Mexican food! The food tastes close to Tequila’s but it definitely tastes more authentic here! I had the Arroz con pollo and it was just absolutely wonderful. I love how you place your order and then you sit down and they bring the food to you and it was rather quickly I might add. And the fact that it felt like a complete restaurant meal with the fast-food feel was pretty cool. The meal does not come with chips and salsa but it they don’t cost a lot so you should go ahead and get em! Afterwards I was talking about the restaurant to someone else and they were raving about the guacamole so maybe you should try that too! They do have limited hours so make sure you pay attention to that window when you’re planning on visiting this restaurant! They were definitely starting to get busy (as we arrived before the lunch time) lots of groups of people started walking in, mainly people who work downtown. The restaurant did not get food while we were there but if it does they’re just happen to be more seating if you go down the hallway which I included in my pictures. I was actually off of work the day that I went here so since their hours are limited I’m hoping able to visit this place again soon because it was really great!

Went there for corn tortilla tacos and they don’t make “crispy fried tacos” like out west. I got myself a breakfast burrito (eggs&chorizo) instead. That was good and tasty. The size for $10 eh maybe, nowadays you don’t get that much for your buck.
Taco Take: I grew up in Cali where corn tortilla tacos are always fried. Don’t know why they think steaming them is good in the Midwest. There are restaurants that will crispy fry them for you, just have to ask. This place won’t. That’s my take. I will be back for something in the future just not tacos.

Greeted with a smile. Great location for when you’re down checking out the artwork and stuff in downtown Peoria on the riverfront. I was thoroughly pleased with the quality of food that they’re using. The picture is exactly the way you receive it. The volume for your money there is very reasonable.
