Walked past this restaurant so many times but finally managed to give it a try last night. The service was impeccable and attentive (especially the Italian guy! I forgot to ask his name). The two main dishes that we ordered were the highlights of our dinner. The ginger braised duck with glazed dressing was super delicious – very tender and juicy meat with exceptional flavour. My other favourite was the beef brisket with spicy chilli seasoning – again super tender meat, perfect level of spice (for me anyway – probably a little too spicy for the untrained palate ) with fantastic aromatic flavour. The chow mein however was probably way too salty for my liking. We had a fantastic dining experience nonetheless and would definitely return again and again!

Absolute gem in Bristol!

The owner is genuinely one of the most charismatic guys you’ll meet, always welcoming and making the place feel lively. Staff are really friendly too! Walk in and it’s good vibes straight away.

Food is consistently bang on every time, flavourful, generous portions, and just hits the spot whether you’re eating in with mates or bringing the family.

Highly recommend! you’ll leave happy and you’ll definitely be back.

Big ups Richard for the best experience dining out I have had in a really long time! Such a lovely and interesting man with so much passion for the venue.
It was wonderful to talk and hear some incredible stories over a cheeky chinese cigarette

The food here is INCREDIBLE, especially from the chefs specials menu.

And the drinks selection is BEAUTIFUL. I have dreams about the plum wine.

Ordered the set meal for 2, which ended up being delicious and very filling. A great environment to dine in, but unfortunately felt that the staff were under resourced. We were often left to our own devices with little to no staff service. In the end our food came over an hour after ordering!

(We were guests on First Table so our meal was 50% off, but I’m writing this review as if we had paid full price)
The food itself was very nice but perhaps a little expensive, as other reviewers have mentioned the presentation was a bit lacking

Service unfortunately quite weak. All the staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly but it seems like the restaurant was very understaffed as we were waiting approximately 45 minutes for food, and waiters seemed too busy to notice things like water jugs needing refilling. Occasionally you could even see staff jogging in and out of the kitchen!

Our final complaint was with the menus. The dietary restriction tags (vegan vs vegetarian) seemed very inconsistent and not accurate. One example is egg fried rice being marked as vegan but a side of pak choy being vegetarian. This place has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options which we appreciated but they need to be marked properly!

November 2025:
We visited again after a long time and I can definitely say we had an amazing time!

The food arrived so quickly and everything tasted amazing!

The staff were extremely kind and they were there to make sure we had everything we needed!

One minor inconvenience was that the restaurant was freezing inside! My partner during her meal had to pause and wear her jacket, the lady next to us didn’t even take her jacket off at all! We ate and run home sadly!

2022:
We had an amazing dinner when we visited Cathay Rendezvous.

After ordering, the food arrived really quickly and all the different dishes tasted extremely well! Duck, spring rolls, lemon chicken, sweet and sour all of them were perfect!

Staff were extremely kind and helpful, they also always smiled and were really positive.

A small note for the restaurant; After having finished our dinner, it seemed like we were forgotten. We had to ask couple of times for dessert menus and for someone to help clear our table before the dessert came. It seemed like our last 40mins in the restaurant were spend trying to order dessert and then wait for it to arrive.

When we were done, we then walked to the entrance to pay our bill to avoid any further delays.

We had booked a table over a month ago, which wasn’t ready when we arrived, even though not busy at all. There is no atmosphere what so ever , starter tasted good although no presentation of any kind. We were not offered another drink , waiters/ waitresses not attentive at all , not that we wanted to be bothered , but they didn’t notice empty glasses , could have paid more notice. The mains again no presentation, no decorative not like we are used to in good Chinese restaurants. We are not local so will not be going back any time soon . Very expensive for just ordinary looking plates of food. Disappointed in whole experience!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Cathy Rendezvous. I ordered a delivery, and the chicken in my meal was very undercooked to the point of being raw. This is completely unacceptable, as consuming raw chicken poses serious health risks.

The quality control and food safety standards at this restaurant clearly need significant improvement. I expected much better, especially for the price. I would not recommend this place based on my experience.

The restaurant uses golden cutleries so it’s presentable and nice place to meet up with friends and families. The customer service is quite good. The layout of the restaurant is very narrow and separated into different rooms so difficult to see waiters and get their attentions. The food is very average and the menu choice is typical Chinese takeaway food. This is really obvious for Chinese people. In particular we ordered sizzling beef steak. In China all the sizzling dish we have are definitely beef strips not steaks so I had a blank moment and skipped the word steak on the menu and assumed the same. The dish was sizzling hot but the steak was so over cooked and hard to chew. You can’t possibly cook tender beef if you cut it so thick and cook it well done. The menu choice itself is wrong to start with. The special chow main and park Choi we had were smothered in soy sauce with no other flavour which is typical way how it’s cooked in takeaway food. The two king prawn dishes we had are the best of all but nothing special. The good reviews for this restaurant are clearly mostly rated by the British as this is merely a posh takeaway restaurant serving westernised Chinese food which falls below standard of a restaurant I expect. For that reason regrettably I won’t return.

Consistently amazing! We’ve eaten here many times and the lunch deal can’t be beaten. Fantastic selection of starters and mains and we love every single one.
The service is brilliant, you are made to feel very welcome.
They also use proper chopsticks, not the wooden ones you have to split- see pics.
Great selection of drinks as well. Plenty of seating but worth booking if you have a large party.
