Was excited to try this place! The catfish is amazing as well as the fried okra. My fiance asked for the pulled pork sandwich 3 times and they gave him pork ribs instead. The collard greens were ok, very salty. The bread they give you is just slices of untoasted and unseasoned bread. I don’t think we will be back.

Koo lil spot I been meaning to tryout. Once I finally made it I was impressed. My fish was fried well even though I forgot to tell them not so crispy. I had been warned that it can come out too crispy. Mine was almost perfect.
So check em out if you’re ever in the Neighborhood and Holla at a Playa.

I am so proud of the owner for enduring through the process and stress to get Catfish King opened. We need more black-owned businesses. I ate here months ago. I thought that the owner was ingenious to set up a food truck while the restaurant was under construction. I ate at Catfish King yesterday (post construction) and it was fantastic! I ordered a perch and shrimp plate. The seafood was crispy, crispy, as was the fried okra. My second side was cabbage, which was wonderful! I ate some in the restaurant and took the rest home. Early in the morning, I had a strong craving for the rest. I warmed it up. It was delish! The menu offers many other seafood and barbecue options. I am always impressed by polite young people. Those on his staff were super nice and smiled a lot. God bless them and the enduring owner for their hard work. Catfish King is a winner in my book. Check it out. You will not be disappointed. I don’t like to diss other restaurants but Catfisk King impressed me more than Welton Street Cafe. ~ Kevy
PS – There was mustard on the table! Southern folks like me (from New Orleans) live mustard on fried fish.

I’ve been trying to visit this place for a while. I can confidently say I won’t visit anywhere else for catfish in Denver. The Catfish was crispy, buttery and seasoned so well. The atmosphere is giving family reunion, we were family in there. Come on a Saturday night for live local music. They truly are the Catfish Kings!

As someone from Louisiana who was craving authentic Southern cooking, Catfish King absolutely hit the mark. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The collard greens were especially delicious—seasoned perfectly and cooked just right.
The staff was amazing—very helpful, warm, and sincere. Their hospitality made the whole experience even better.
We ended with the banana pudding, and it was heavenly—just like Grandma’s! The catfish was seasoned to perfection and fried just right. I’m already looking forward to my next visit so I can try the peach cobbler.
If you’re craving real Southern comfort food—especially if you’re far from home like me—Catfish King is the place. Don’t miss out on the Catfish King experience!

Service was nice, you can tell they still working out kinks, and were unprepared for their grand opening today, the food was well proportion, but the yams taste definitely like they came out a can(Bruce’s to be exact),the red beans and rice was bland and dry, overall I enjoyed the rib tips, hush puppies, and the kool-aid definitely made me feel like I was kid again,I felt the price could’ve been a little bit better for the quality of the food.We paid $47 per person. I would recommend this place and I’ll be back now that I have an idea of what they have.

I was very excited to visit the old Hungry Wolf that changed their name to The Catfish King. I became disappointed as I read the new menu, which had all the prices whited out. We ordered 2 entrees and 2 desserts, pictured below and was charged over $80. The food was decent but not worth $80+ bucks. The service was excellent but still not worth $80+. Also, I was very disappointed with the banana pudding(pictured below). Unfortunately, I cannot return to Catfish King.

By and far the best southern food I’ve had in Denver. The food was hot and delicious (and they have koolaid— ask them what color they have for the day). We also had the banana pudding for dessert and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best I’ve ever had. The catfish was battered very well.

The food is actually pretty good! However, the service was horrible! It took us two hours to get our food and get out of this restaurant, lucky I was with a good friend I hadn’t seen for awhile because we would have left like a few other tables did! Super slow!
