Nice Laid back, family friendly place. Been eating here my whole life and its always been pretty good. Service is usually great. Ran into a few issues recently such as lost orders and such but nothing bad. Will be returning friday night for my grandpa’s 90th birthday!

Absolutely love coming to the Catfish Hut when we come to visit family. We always request Jenna she is absolutely the best & sweetest. She does an amazing job! Love the atmosphere of the restaurant,has that country vibe & has the best salad bar around basic but fresh and their pasta salad is done the “right way” but so is all their food ( just a real bummer salad bar is 1 trip/ customer with certain meals purchased). The last time we came, we got the family fish deal it was delicious as always. Best catfish I’ve ever had tbh breading is always crispy, with perfect seasoning. Everyone’s meals looked amazing, portion sizes are awesome & recommend anyone local too or visiting Deridder to check out the Catfish Hut, but make sure you Google the to make sure they are open as seating times aren’t all day. My favorite spot in DeRidder!

First time in Louisiana, and had to stop at this spot. Salad was great. Sweat tea was perfect. Wasn’t a fan of the fries but the catfish made up for it!!! I don’t go to a fish place for fries anyways haha. Ranch dressing was amazing too. And tartar sauce … mmmmmmm

Brian and I been wanting catfish FOREVeR! So, a good friend told us about the Catfish Hut in Deridder. So we went on a Friday evening. It’s a straight shot from Fort Polk to Deridder on 171. It’s there on the left and easy to spot there on the left. Huge sign and arrow. Plenty of parking.
Went inside and was instantly greeted. One of the things I’m so proud of being a Louisiana gal myself, that instant feeling of warm welcomes when you walk in. We chose our seat and immediately asked what we wanted to drink. We both ordered some tea and some boiled shrimp and fried pickles. Then, we decided to explore. This place is HUGE! And, I mean huge. We walked into the back where there was a gathering of friends and families from church. Again, everyone said hello and even thanked my husband for his service. They were just delightful.
Our food was ready. I can’t even begin to tell you how fresh and hot everything was. The shrimp had the perfect amount boil. It was sooooo good. As we’re eating, we’re chatting with everyone around us. We just loved it. I noticed some fresh honey jars and asked about them. The gentleman that has hives came over and told us all about his farm. Our evening was just perfect. You do need cash to purchase the honey. It’s separate from the restaurant. I went back several days later and purchased a jar. We’re in honey heaven.
So if you’re ever in Deridder, Louisiana- go by the Catfish Hut and tell them Brian and Candice Cartwright said “hey”. Best groceries, company and atmosphere ever!

This was my first visit. Asked server the size of pieces of catfish to determine how many pieces to order. Her demonstration was accurate, but what she doesn’t tell you is ITS ALL BREADING! The paper-thin piece of fish was surrounded by all breading. One of my companions had burned hush puppies. I definitely will not go back.

The waitress seemed spaced out–did not give very good service. She forgot to bring what we needed to get started: silverware, our salad bar bowls, iced tea, condiments for our baked potatoes. And then she’d forget to bring whatever we’d asked for as we were eating. Very annoying.

Good portions, decent prices. Place was a bit chilly but not terribly so. Very nice, well stocked salad bar but the bowls were kinda small for the one trip to it. Food was very good to excellent.
