Awesome dinner spot the fired pickles were on point. Everything was hot and fresh. Out food came out fast. We left stuffed!

The restaurant offers some good eats and comes out hot. I enjoy the Catfish filet plate. The hush puppies are so good they actually make you HUSH. The sampler is a good pick 3 option to try different things.

We drove an hour this past Friday evening October 17th, 2025 to this restaurant.
We entered with another couple but we weren’t together. We both were seated. A waitress came and took our drink order – water and coke with lemon.
Coke didn’t have lemon. Okay ❌️
Waitress never gave her name, if she did I would call her by name in this review.
She took our order, catfish plate with a baked potato and hamburger steak add onions, French fries and add a side of fried okra extra crispy. (6:10pm)
She brought back a tray of hushpuppies, tartar sauce, ketchup, and 2 sides of slaw ♀️
A family of 3 came in and was sat next to us. (Approximately 6:20) Their waitress (different lady) took their order.
6:35 we’re looking around for our waitress ❌️.
Right before 6:40, the party of 3 that was sat next to us received their food ❌️.
Around this same time the couple that came in with us was settling their bill and getting a to-go box to leave❌️.
A waitress walks by and I asked her if she could send our waitress over, she nodded yes and walked off.
2 minutes later our waitress comes out, doesn’t give me a single second to say anything. She says, “let me go ask” ❌️
My thoughts, because I used to be a server, “Let you go ask???” How do you not know that we haven’t received our food?”
Mind you, even if our food had a hiccup in the kitchen, in 30 minutes she never even came back to our table to see if we needed a refill on our beverages❌️.
A table of 2 behind us that also arrived after us received their food and that was it for us!❌️
Whenever the waitress did come back out we were gone.
We were super unhappy to say the least.
An hour drive there to eat, not to eat, is crazy.

We drove to Florence and arrived at Texas Roadhouse which was CRAZY PACKED. We got our food in TWENTY MINUTES!

I was craving some good ol’ Southern comfort food. . It was a treat to be greeted with such warm Southern hospitality from the start, making me feel right at home. They started us with their complimentary creamy coleslaw and crispy hush puppies. They are the perfect way to kick things off. The appetizer plate is the best way to sample a variety of fried items, I would recommend it! The catfish was really good, but the fried green tomatoes on the appetizer plate stole the show.

I have been eating here for 35 years and I’m about ready to call it quits on this place. For many years they had the best slaw and hush puppies in the world. The fish was always hot and fresh. Not true anymore. The slaw was literally floating in mayonnaise. It was awful. The hush puppies and fish were barely luke warm. I complained about the slaw and a different server (not the one that was serving my table) brought out another bowl that was a little bit better but still floating in mayo. When I remarked it wasn’t any better she wanted to get smart about it so I got smart right back at her. Same problem last time I ate there. The owner now has real estate advertisements on the tables with her picture on it and cards next to the register as a local realtor. It seems obvious that the owner or owners have other business interest and are letting the restaurant just simmer on the back burner. I enjoyed this place so much and I miss what it used to be but if it’s the same the next time I go I’m done.
I do want to mention that my server was a very young lady and I don’t know her name but she was very attentive and kind so she got a good tip regardless of the terrible food. Overall I gave it 2 stars but that was only because of my server. Otherwise it would have been 1 star.

Food was amazing. It came out hot and fresh. Everything tasted fresh including the catfish. I’m usually very picky about where I will eat catfish at and this place has become my new favorite spot. The only issues we had is the food took a while to come out and our drinks were never refilled. It could have just been a bad day for the server and have absolutely no reflection on the normal service times and standards of the restaurant. Other than those two issues everything was perfect. We will for sure be back! Their hush puppies are a must have!!!

The food was good and our waitress was nice. We ordered 3 fried pies to go. Each box was labeled with a letter: S we assumed strawberry, P we assumed to be peach and L which I assumed to be Lemon. This was what we ordered. When we got back to Lauderdale County and was going to have our pies after supper, we found we had 2 apples and and lemon marked P.

Drove to Athens from DeKalb County just to eat here. I ate at the Albertville one growing up all the time. It was such a shame when it closed and then they tore it down….. I think Athens is the last one. The slaw and hushpuppies were exactly the same as the Albertville one. That recipe is the best I’ve ever had anywhere in my life. The catfish was good and the service was good. But I mainly drove all that way just for the slaw and hushpuppies and they didn’t disappoint. I’m glad I got to make the trip and have some nostalgia for a bit.

Had a great experience this Friday night. The food was very fresh and hot. Service was great with a friendly accommodating staff. The hush puppies were so hot steam was coming out of them when split. Loved the fried mushrooms which were also hot and delicious! The fried catfish tasted fresh and had a crispy coating. No complaints, only accolades for our evening!
We will be back, and I highly recommend this restaurant.
