Tampa Bay Food Tours enjoyed a beautiful waterfront lunch at Catches Waterfront Grille in Port Richey

A local staple for 35 years, this longtime favorite offers prime water views, boat docks, and the perfect setting to relax and soak in the Florida lifestyle. Whether you arrive by car or by boat, the laid-back waterfront vibe delivers every time.

The menu truly has something for everyone — starters, handhelds, salads, entrées, bowls, tacos, and even a full dinner menu available at lunch. They also offer an $8 kids’ menu, making it a great family-friendly option. And no worries for the land lovers — they feature a dedicated “land lubbers” menu too.

We enjoyed the blackened grouper, an amazing shrimp po’ boy, and a fresh salad topped with blackened shrimp — all with a sunny view of the river inlet and docks. ☀️

Right next door is Rum River Tiki Bar, a fun outdoor bar & grill serving up great cocktails and daily specials — the perfect spot to continue your waterfront afternoon.

Come for the views and stay for the food. And tell them Tampa Bay Food Tours sent you!

We thought we would give this place another try. Our friend drove over from lake okeechobee and we wanted to take him out. I had looked online for places that had happy hour and good deals on seafood. We made reservations for 5 and were seated right away. We arrived at 5:30 pm. Not busy at all. Once our waitress came over I asked for the $2 draft beer on happy hour , she came baxk and said well theirs was $3,50 and said the bar below was the $2 one. I did look and it pic showed rum river , even though it’s on their website. I told her that’s fine , but I wanted to check on the $1 oysters that was also on the pic. She came back and said that they didn’t have them at that price. So I asked for the manager (Tim) , he came over and told me that , that wasn’t their website and had no control over it ,that it was another caches restaurant. So I went to Google search and had him point out his restaurant on there , once it pulled up, I showed him the happy hour picture under the menu list, he said well that’s not his and it’s old. I then showed him on the rope that it was updated 2 weeks ago. He said sorry, he can’t honor that price he gives more for them than that. So I told the waitress ( which was nice ) just bring me my check for our drinks and we were leaving. We went next door to WHISKEY JOES and got there with 10 minutes left of happy hour and got oysters a dozen for $15. I would.recommend going there instead of catches. They were.extremely busy and still got seated within a few minutes.i attached pics showing the happy hour and also attached pic of my oysters.

Excellent service, very friendly and attentive server. Had the rainbow trout with roasted potatoes. It was very delicious. Wonderful atmosphere with the view of the water. Would definitely come back.

What a wonderful place. Our server Leza (spelling?) was awesome. I had the captains plater and omg. Huge portions. It had shrimp, scallops, flounder and a good size crab cake. No I couldn’t eat it all. It was very good and it came with two sides. I had broccoli and coleslaw both were very good. My husband had the shrimp plate and it came with so much shrimp we brought some of that home too. It was blackened to perfection. He had fries that were very yummy and coleslaw. We took home dessert which we had to try before we left and it was delicious. It was an orange cake. It might be a little pricey but let me tell you, you get what you pay for! I can’t wait to go back.

Nice looking place. Great local on the water’s edge & the atmosphere was very nice! But … the food was not very good at all.

My wife wasn’t very hungry so she ordered chicken tacos with rice & beans as a side. The tacos look like something you would whip together & microwave at home. I’m not convinced they were not microwaved. She said everything was pretty bland and the flavor of the rice wasn’t very good.

I ordered grilled shrimp that was bland and a little cold. I started with a cup of clam chowder and caesar salad. Now the clam chowder was actually decent. The salad was drowning in dressing. It was awful. The dinner rolls were cheapy frozen rolls you pull out of a bag and bake. They’re not bad, but not anything to write home about. My other side was seasoned fries that were decent, though not very warm.

So … if you want potato dishes, they got you covered. If you want good seafood, maybe go somewhere else.

Even my scotch was watered down. I’m really not that picky. But this was disappointing.

Extremely noisy atmosphere. Waitress never checked on us and we always had to flag her down. Food came out almost 45-50 minutes after we placed our orders, while one person’s meal came out way ahead of the rest of the table. Two guests were missing part of the side dishes. This was a special occasion one of our party members. It wasn’t the most enjoyable experiences for her.

Last night my family (nine of us total) went to Catches for dinner while we had family in town. We were really looking forward to it because the space is decorated so beautifully and has such a cool vibe — it truly has the potential to be something great.

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. Our server, Haley, was kind and pleasant, but the service overall was extremely slow. We sat multiple times with empty drinks when we were ready for more wine, water, and other beverages. At a few points, we had to get up and find her or a host because she was nowhere to be found.

When the food came out, it was pretty average. Most dishes were lukewarm at best and lacked seasoning — everything tasted fairly bland. We had hoped to treat our family to a really good meal, so it was a letdown.

We probably won’t be back, but I genuinely hope they can improve because the atmosphere is great and it feels like it could be a fantastic spot with some changes.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday with friends recently here because we had a great experience the first time.
The food and service were above my expectations.
This waterfront restaurant is beautifully decorated, bright and airy. Spacious seating inside and out. Large windows to look at the water and marina. You can come by boat too.
The food is incredible! Deliciously seasoned, not overpowering.
We started with mussels and oyster rockerfella. We asked for bread to soak up the sauce, so yummy.
Tried my husband’s Mediterranean Grouper, this was out of this world. I had the Grouper Tacos. Lightly battered, large pieces of grouper with lettuce, tomato in their sauce, beans and rice, delicious.
Fresh vegetables selection.
Fabulous cocktails.
Our service was inpecable.
This is dining at it’s best!
Kudos to the chefs! Everything cooked to order, not precooked.
You’ll want to come back.
If you agree, please give a thumbs up.
