Went during HH Restaurant Week with friends and sat at the bar. Learned a lot about the restaurant & it’s longtime owners (who were working there that night). Drinks (who doesn’t love an Espresso Martini for RW dessert?) were great, as was the food, service and ambiance!

Overall it was a great experience dining at Catch 22. My Father In Law had been telling us about it for several years, and we finally went during HHI Restaurant Week in January 2025. We had my sister, her husband, and daughter join the 2 of us. We picked this place because they really had a nice Restaurant Week menu with a good variety of options for the various courses that week. The salads all looked great, tasted great, the Coconut Fried Shrimp was done nicely and had a good crunch. We had a variety of main entrees’ including the Lobster tail, Filets, Cracked Pepper Tuna, and Beef tips. I put the food at a 4 out of 5 stars mostly for my entree, I had the Tuna. It was a huge portion, was cooked ok, but I feel like it lacked some pizzaz… perhaps a more Teriyaki type of sauce or flavor. Dont get me wrong, it was good, but I have had better on the Island or at home. The Chocolate Martini for dessert was the favorite amongst the table and stood out. Our server was extremely friendly and made the night pretty special. Definitely planning to go back again.

Okay, so the best way to do this is to just start from the beginning of my visit to Catch 22.
While waiting for our reservation, we sat at the bar and talked with the bartender, Derek, who was extremely knowledgable, kind and easy to talk with. He gave us some menus so we could start picking our food before we sat down. My mom ordered the drink called “the great thyme” and really enjoyed it.
Once we got to our table, my girlfriend was given a water glass that had lipstick on it. Not a huge deal, the waiter was apologetic, took our order, and got us another glass, but not very quickly. While we waited for our appetizers, my mother wanted another drink, so I attempted to wave down our waiter, but it took several attempts to get the waiters attention and after about 10 minutes he finally saw me and we were able to reorder the drink. So far, not great but nothing unforgivable.
Finally we got our appetizers, and unfortunately they were both cooked incorrectly. The baked brie was hard and chewy, not spreadable, and just overall not how baked Brie should be. The fried Brussels sprouts were EXTREMELY overcooked and tasted like nothing but char. There was no sprout left. It was just crunchy charred nothing. We sent back both appetizers and asked for them to be fixed. My mom DID mention that the Brie could just be heated more, but we really didn’t expect them to reheat the Brie that we had already cut up and put back into the skillet. The waiter came back and informed us that they had no more Brussels sprouts and that we could pick something else if we liked, but we decided to just get the Brie, which the waiter said they DID have more of so we assumed we would get a new one. When the Brie came back out it was hotter for sure, but still the same dish, NOT remade, and still extremely rubbery and unable to be spread onto the bread. Some of the bread was replaced but the chunks of Brie were still the same and they were firmer than before. It was basically inedible at this point. The arugula garnish was now wilted from the heat and that was pretty unappetizing too. The waiter came back to check how it was, and we informed him it was not any better, so they took it off the bill along with the Brussels sprouts.
Next came the entrees and thankfully it was a slightly better experience, although the food was not very warm and we assume this was because of the whole Brie situation. They probably held our meals to give us time to get the Brie, but that resulted in each of us commenting on the temperature. Now the entrees were pretty good when it came to the taste, but the portions were small and the quality really didn’t live up to the price. We ended up paying $137.18 for 3 small, barely warm entrees and one mixed drink (my mother paid for the other at the bar). Overall, the waiter was polite, but wasn’t very attentive. My family doesn’t mind paying this amount, or more, for a good meal, but after this experience, we felt $150+ (including tip) for what we received was wildly overpriced. We will not be returning to Catch 22, unless we were just returning for a great drink in a pretty unique bar. Pictures of the appetizers are included below.

When we walked in the door we immediately felt welcomed even with our baby, which had not happened at all on our trip before then. It was relaxing, quiet & the food was spectacular again a first the entire trip! However what really stood out was our service. Our waitress was Nicki, we saw great reviews about her before going but she almost brought me to tears with how sweet and helpful she was. Truly glowed from the inside out! She not only provided some of the best we have ever experienced (and were from CHS). She gave us amazing recommendations regarding the menu! It’s a must try if you’re ever in the area, we will 1,000% be visiting again. Keep up the amazing work Catch 22!

we ordered the daufuskie hush puppies, coconut shrimp, chicken parm, tile fish special, and a taster special (forgot actual name but – roast duck, lobster, short rib) the daufuskie hush puppies were the stand out for appetizers since they have crab in them! the tile fish was good, the risotto on the bottom was a bit colder compared to the fish, not something i would outwardly complain about to my waitress but something to note. the chicken parm were okay as well, but my family and i have had better. for the taster, the prime rib was a bit dry in the middle and had too much bbq sauce. i think our waitress forgot about us for a bit, she was very chatty with the other tables that were seated near us (not a bad thing), but we had all stopped eating and no one had come to take on our dishes for 10-15 mins. she did apologize for this and made sure to give us speedy service for our check. my family has been coming to HHI for many years and this was our first time here. not a bad place but i think there are other restaurants in HHI if you want a more elevated dining experience for the price.

Great restaurant in a “strip mall.” It’s kind of a bar feel with country music. Table tops are sea shells under a glass. A little corny with the blue red flashing led lights as a decor but fine otherwise. Dimly lit ambiance was good. Great service on a busy Valentines Day night. Fantastic drinks.

The bread fresh.
The Carolina Trout was flash fried and the portion was large. The breading was light and crispy. I selected spinach instead of the pepper aioli.
The Cracked Pepper Tuna was perfectly seared and sliced thin with wasabi and a creamy garlic sauce; however, it would have been more preferable with soy sauce.
The Key Lime pie was very good, but the texture had more of a cheesecake texture.
The atmosphere can accommodate a family, but it feels more formal or for mature audiences.
Definitely make reservations.

We have been to HHI many times over the past 30 years. This is my new favorite seafood restaurant. Strangely we had never eaten here before. Gary, the owner, returned my phone call after I left a message that I wanted to make a reservation. A good first impression. We were impressed with the early dining menu. It has a lot of variety and great prices. We were seated promptly at 5:30 p.m. Derek, our server, was very personable and knowledgeable about all food choices. He was a great storyteller too! Everything we ordered was excellent: scallops, salmon and trout. Caesar salad was the first course. The desserts ordered were key lime pie and volcano chocolate bundt cake with ice cream. It was a perfect evening. Everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return!

Great food. Excellent fried Brussels Sprouts. 5 Onion Soup, yummy. Two at our table ordered the Crispy Roasted Half Duck and loved it. I loved the Char-Braised Short Rib, as well.

What an amazing dinner! We had the hush puppies and that key lime tartar sauce was SOOOO good. The grilled trio was great, with the duck stealing the show! The pork chop was cooked perfectly with a nice smoked gouda grits and green bean sides. And the dessert menu was large and unique with a salted caramel pretzel brownie and a peanut butter sushi. We couldn’t have asked for a better server than Chadwick either. We definitely recommend this place.
