It’s a simple little dive on the edge of skid row and, surprisingly enough, the food was OUTSTANDING. I had the fish and ribs combo, and both were great. Staff was friendly and helpful, and there’s parking right there. And the prices were very modest. The biggest downside is that this place is in a very rough neighborhood and the people in and around the restaurant reflect that.

I love this place! Family owned business with very good food and blessed personalities! I eat here about twice a week and I love it! I order the seafood skewers and salad…. Yummy . My youngest daughter loves the shrimp skewers and french fries. My oldest daughter loves the hamburger and fries. It’s located right next to the homeless tents but it’s peaceful! You must try!

It’s a great place for takeout as it’s not in the most ideal of locations. In spite of that, I do believe that this place has the best fish and chips in all of Southern California! Their bbq chicken is also amazing, great prices too! I been dining here for over 13 years and it’s just a good place to patron, a real family owned, community establishment. I appreciate their friendliness and great food.

I wanted to give this place a try before going to the place across the street. Because hole in the walls sometimes are diamonds in the rough. The service gets the stars, maybe they were having an off day but the food seemed old. The fries were good. I got the fish with shrimp and fries. It just wasn’t good. Maybe if you are hungry and don’t want to spend a lot of money. Also the tartar sauce was super thick and chunky.

I ordered delivery of the ribs and shrimp combo with fries and coleslaw. Ive ordered this same plate many many times. I don’t know what changed today, but it was horrible. The ribs were the smallest bones I’ve ever seen with dry burned meat attached. I asked for seasoned fries…..these were not. The overall plate was just inedible. I’ll keep this review short as I now need to go find some food I can actually eat for lunch.

Catch 21 is my favorite place to eat while working downtown near skid Row. They have the best deal on seafood. My favorite meal is the grilled sole fish on a bed of rice, something like pilaf rice, and a cup of mango lemonade. The fish is always fresh.
Location is everything. So, in this case, Catch 21 is on the fringe of the Los Angeles skid row epidemic. This restaurant is not where you want to go for a romantic date. But if you want an excellent old-fashioned fresh fish, lunch or dinner, this is your place. The serving portions are also very generous. And it’s a reasonable price too. Quick pick up still hot when I got back to work to eat my lunch. $9.33 for a large chowder and two fried fish sides. not bad on a cold day. I’m happy. The picture is missing one fish, I ate one.
