I had this at Brookeside Gardens during the Garden of Lights. I am not a big hot dog fan but it’s good. It’s a little pricey at $9 and it’s not very big, which is not necessarily a bad thing as many places make up for poor quality with quantity. The hot dog sucks but you get a huge one.

Coming from Philly, these hot dogs really bring me back to some memorable flavors. The “All the Way” dog was perfect. The chili was perfect for a hot dog. The potato bun is pillow soft. The best part of the hot dog was the hot dog! Perfect snap when you bite into it and great beef taste! I was only planning to eat one but had to order another one on the spot!
I also ordered some To Go dogs for the family. The dogs traveled well and my wife loved them!
Other fun pluses were the Herr’s sour cream and onion potato chips and the ice-cold Yoohoo
Thanks Chris for bringing some great flavor into DC! Can’t wait to visit again!

We never had the chance to try Catalyst Hot Dogs because the food truck cancelled on our PTA the day before our event. We reserved the truck on September 30 and followed up again on October 7.
On October 9, we were told the permit process was underway. We checked in again on November 1 and received an email on November 14, just one day before our event, stating that due to a clerical error, the permit application submitted the week before had not been processed.
The owner shared that he had never seen this happen before and was upset, and we were upset as well. I love supporting local businesses and do not enjoy leaving negative feedback, but this is not an acceptable way to treat people or operate a business. When you commit to an event, especially one serving families and children, permits should be secured well in advance.
I sincerely hope they improve their process, but based on our experience, they were not reliable.

One of the best around. Big trailer or Lil trailer makes no difference. The Owner has a great personality, and a great product. The dogs, the burgers(on the big trailer), the fries, all made to order all delicious. Prices are fair, and service is speedy with a smile.

They actually come out looking just like the photos. Loaded and delicious. Don’t bother grabbing the ketchup packets, you won’t need them.

Could be some of the best dogs outside Cook County. A nice size frank with cracked ends served with a non traditional relish mix including sport peppers, onions and pickles with mustard seated on a proper poppy seed bun. The fries were not fresh cut but held their own and this was probably the best culinary choice at SECU Stadium.

I’ve been twice already. Both times were an absolute delight. The food is great and I got talking to the owner, Chris. Nice guy with a ridiculous North Jersey accent. We both had a good long laugh at how he pronounces the word “drawer” haha ask him about it! He told me he had been kicking around the idea for a hot dog cart for years and he finally pulled the trigger. I’m sure glad he did! I started off with a plain dog just to get the true flavor of the dog and the bun. Great char on the dog and his signature is a cross cut split end on the dog. Nice soft and fresh Martins potato roll enveloped the dog perfectly. I moved on to a classic, a chili dog. I went onions and mustard and everything on it was great. The homemade chilli was outstanding, I almost ordered that on a bun by itself! Then to finish out the holy trinity I went for a Lincoln Log (?) Apparently it’s a Seattle staple but he picked it up from a memorable scene in Sopranos where Carmella had made them for Tony. Gotta love when a trip to home depot gets ya a couple dogs and some useless trivia! Chris and his cart were clean and presentable, I enjoyed the food, I enjoyed that chat, and to finish off the beautiful lunch I got to treat myself to an ice cold orange soda in a can. I remembered to grab a card and I’m hoping I can use him for a catering event in the future!
