Nice little charming place out of the way. My fillet was done to perfection as was the rest of my meal. The salad bar is small but has everything you need to make a perfect salad. The waitress was polite and charming and kept my glasses always full.

I would say this restaurant is a high class local steakhouse and not much on good seafood.

I went there and I was on the only customer (this was about 5:45 in evening) so the waitress was in parking lot on her phone, but quickly went inside and meet me. She got my table ready, which took no more than 5 minutes.

Where I was seated, they had dim red lights on, which made it a little hard to see the food and menu.

I wanted Mussels as an appetizer, but they were out. So, I got Cold Cocktail Shrimp instead.
They were ok, the cocktail sauce was too strong thou.

They also put out fresh rolls. The rolls were good, just small.

Next, I ordered a Grilled combo of shrimp and scallops, with a side of steak fries. On the sides, for an upscale restaurant, there were not many side options. As for the main dish, the Shrimp was barely edible and the scallops were ok. Both had no flavor, tasted like they were grilled too long. The cocktail sauce helped a little with the scallops.

The waitress was great and professional, I also talked with the owner. Who was walking the restaurant.

Overall, as to the seafood side of the menu.
I’m not really impressed. Maybe the steaks are good.
But overall, I don’t recommend this restaurant.

We are not impressed with this restaurant. So far, every time we have gone there, some part of our order has been wrong. This time, we both ordered 12oz Ribeyes, medium rare. We were served one Ribeye, medium well, and one New York Strip, rare. When we hesitated at the incorrect order as the waitress delivered it to the table, we were flippantly told “Oh don’t worry, it’s a Ribeye, it’s just cut from a different place.”

Ah… no. That’s not how meat cuts work. No apologies for this, no options given – we were not told in advance, they just cooked up what they though was a suitable replacement and expected us to deal with it.

Not to mention that they were obviously placed on the grill for the same duration, for two very different thickness cuts, rendering neither the correct medium-rare.

At least they had food available this visit, as we made a reservation. It is NOT a reservation-only restaurant, but the last time we came by (at 7pm, when they close at 10), we were told that there were no hot bread and the menu was limited because they were closing up after the table next to us (their sole reservation for the night) was done. It was not some special day or etc – apparently walk-ins are welcome only when the staff doesn’t want to go home early.

It’s obvious that the staff just don’t care about your food or experience, which is deplorable for this expensive of a restaurant ($135 for two people, and that’s not even multiple drinks or apps). They blatantly take advantage of the fact that they are the only fine dining establishment within 40min, though with their lack of service, availability, and outright lying about the entrees, I would hesitate to call it ‘fine’.

Just left and the food was so good I’m doing the review in the parking lot. Saturday night and not a lot of people. This place is truly a diamond in the rough. I’d throw rocks at anything in Roanoke versus this food. Simply amazing food and service.

This was our first time being here. Everyone we interacted with was really great. Inside had a great atmosphere, although I was taken aback with the sign asking to ring the bell for service. Wasn’t a big deal for us as the waitress heard us discussing it and came right to us, but I was hesitant to actually ring it since it seems a little rude to the staff. Everything was very clean, very tidy looking. With that being said, it was odd to me that the silverware wasn’t wrapped up, but displayed out on the tables. Most people don’t walk by touching tables, but Id of still rather had my silverwear covered. Never know when someone might sneeze or something. The bread was great! I honestly could have made a meal off of that alone. It was fresh, the butter was really good, and it was freely provided. The butter looked homemade and the rolls were definitely not out of a frozen bag from a store. I ordered a filet mignon medium, a baked potato, and mushrooms. All of them were really good, the filet was cooked perfectly, and it was well presented. I’d never personally had this meat cut before, wanted to try something new, but this one did have a bigger section of fat than what I was expecting. It was very tender and juicy, with a great taste though. My husband ordered a sirloin, a loaded potato, and the veggie of the day. His sirloin was cooked medium, but was rather fatty so he had a harder time cutting it up. He said outside of that he liked the rest. Their salad bar had a variety of selections to top the salad with, looked well kept, and fresh. It didn’t have any pastas or anything like some places do, but it was nice. Overall I feel like I enjoyed the history of the building, the interaction with our waitress (who was absolutely amazing and so sweet), the bread rolls, and the decorations over everything else. Would I come back again? Perhaps, but not any time soon. It’s not the cheapest place to dine at. I will say that there is not a dress code so don’t feel like you need your Sunday best here, and we didn’t do a reservation and had no wait time. It was a nice place with friendly people that make you feel at home.

The service was excellent the waitress was very kind and apologetic because of the slow wait (even though we didn’t mind at all!) She was very sweet and was working very hard, and the food was very good as well! We hope to be back! 🙂

The atmosphere and setting was pretty nice. It wasn’t that busy. The waitress was nice and polite. At first we were not offered bread and when I asked she said they were out of it but would look. Eventually she came back out with 2 really soft hot rolls which arguably were the best part of the meal. The prime rib was only ok. Broccoli was barely cooked. The filet was dry and tough. We got water to drink and our bill was over $80. Im sorry I can’t recommend this restaurant based on the value and taste of the meal.

This review is from May 2025. I am just getting around to posting it.
There is a smell in the air, maybe of cat and owl, that just did not agree with me. Won’t be eating there again.
Food was fine. Service too.
