Heard about this place for their “famous fried chicken” ’and made the drive from Aurora to try it. Definitely some of the better fried chicken I’ve had in some time. Almost (but not quite) as good as the now closed White Fence Farm, which used to have my favorite fried chicken in Colorado.

I was also very impressed with the value for the portion size. $20 if you’re eating the plate by itself for a ton of food (chicken breast is especially big), or $9 split charge to share and have both people get the sides. The chicken skin was phenomenal and flavorful, and the chicken breast was a huge portion. I know it’s good too when fried chicken doesn’t upset my stomach, means it’s not overly greasy. Mashed potatoes and gravy were also very flavorful.

Only complaint is that everything did need to be salted, which is fine but the chicken meat and potatoes are never quite as good to me as when it’s salted properly during cooking. And also the veggies were quite dry and tough, and I’m a big fan of veggies so was happy to have them there.

Would love to come back though and try things like the brisket or pulled pork sandwich, or some of their daily specials that looked great. Easy recommend for good fried chicken especially.

Spot with a lot of history – a main resting area and bar for cowboys many decades ago. Place itself is quaint and feels very comforting.

Food was great, highly recommend the chicken fried chicken as I cleaned my plate (although wish I got to try their famous pan fried chicken). Complimentary house rolls with entrées were alright but happy to get some regardless.

Our server was perfect – knew when to stop by and knew when to give us more time/not interfere.

Had no gripes all around and would definitely go back here if I were ever to find myself in Castle Rock again.

The service was excellent! We visited during a busy time of day and the wait staff were awesome — very attentive and kind despite all the craziness of a packed house.
The food was delicious. We got the pan fried chicken and it was worth the extra wait.

Large party in private dining. Amazing and impeccable service. Refills regularly. Food downtime good. Well made, delicious and well executed. Parking al around building but the area is busy. Lots of old time decor and farmhouse charm. Large portions.

We had the most perfect restaurant experience for our visit to the Castle Cafe! On street parking a couple blocks away was free. We were seated promptly with no reservation, the menu was appropriately priced, the bread (served with butter & honey!) was hot, airy & soft. We had pan-seared salmon ($27) and the Castlewood Canyon salad ($19) – see photos. Both prepared well, tasted great and were served very quickly. The waitress was efficient and timed her visits perfectly. We walked out of there and felt it was the most perfect restaurant experience we’ve ever had! If I lived in Colorado, it would be a regular stop. Highly recommend.

Randomly stopped in not knowing anything about the place, very happy I did. Found out they were known for their pan fried chicken so ordered that. Takes about 30 minutes but worth the weight. Very good! The gravy with the mashed potatoes was awesome.

Idk how this place has 4.5 stars? What is wrong with yall Our food was so good. Fried chicken for the whole table. It was lightly seasoned, perfectly crispy skin and the chicken fell off the bone. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. We are from GA and SC…. This chicken passes southern standards.

This visit was for a carryout order, but even with that, we experienced kind staff, great food, and the order was actually correct which at a lot of places isn’t the case. The portions are large. The Caesar salad with blackened chicken is outstanding. The blackened chicken is cooked in a juicy flavorful. marinade with a little kick to it. Their ranch dressing is outstanding. Not sure what’s in it but it’s not your typical ranch. Delicious. Homemade rolls that come with every entrée are to die for. we will be back

The cafe was very easy to find. I stopped by today and was pleasantly surprised by my experience. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, DELICIOUS!! We also ordered the pan-fried chicken, which is what I heard makes them famous, which is a wait of 35 minutes. We asked for the sandwich to come out first and shared it, and when our second meal came out, we were very satisfied. Had no room for any dessert or we would have tried some. Definitely recommending it to anyone who visits the area.
