Castell’s is an upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of Gravesend, Brooklyn. The food is simple, and elegantly Italian, using imported ingredients and ones fresh from local markets. At Castell’s, culture and culinary traditions are highly valued, alongside seasonality and quality, with respect to kosher customs and principles. Two wood burning ovens produce classic Pizzetes. Caponata di Melanzane is made using Fairy Tale Eggplant, with Ricotta served on Crostini. Occhi, the ricotta filled pasta pillows, are served with a lemon cream sauce, while Rigatoni alla Puttanesca is classic with Olives & Calabrian Chili. Fish entrees offer Branzino, Salmon, and Wild Dover Sole. Serving kosher dishes, including pescatarian and vegetarian options.

We were privileged to visit Castell’s restaurant last night. It was a truly wonderful experience, from the first step inside. The unassuming facade hides an old world ambience inside. Walking down the entry hall you are transported to a large room tastefully appointed with beautiful murals, luxury chairs, and a bar that spans an entire wall. The wait staff are plentiful yet unobtrusive. We began with delicious focaccia bread with high quality herb infused olive oil. I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna carpaccio. The eggplant parmesean was both crispy and creamy, making it easily the best I have ever had. The zucchini topped pizza was a delight that can not be missed. I did not taste the onion soup but my family was very impressed. I ordered the sole almondine with spinach on the side. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. I paired it with a young Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand which was crisp and vibrant with complex fruit notes. It was an excellent pairing, suggested by our server. Brown butter ravioli with jammy soft egg was topped with freshly shaved white truffle. That was next level outstanding. The portions were so plentiful that I could not possibly finish them . I am trying to think of something constructive to suggest to add to this experience but this is as close to perfection as I have ever experienced. I heartily encourage everyone to give this a try . You will not be disappointed .

Came here for a party on a Sunday. difficult to park. Restaurant has no sign so unless you know where to go you arent getting in.
Place is immaculate, very well set up. Very old school professional waiters. Bathroom is very clean.

Food, service and ambience were amazing. We had a great time celebrating our anniversary. The fresh truffle pasta made in the cheese wheel was especially amazing even though it was rather pricey at $95 for a standard sized plate. The chocolate cake was also amazing at the end of the meal. We will definitely be coming back and look forward to trying more dishes on the menu. We came an hour and a half before our reservation as our plans changed last minute and they gladly accommodated us.

Castell’s offered a pleasant experience overall. The food was tasty and well‑prepared, and the atmosphere felt comfortable and inviting. Service was a bit on the slower side, but still courteous once things got going. A solid visit and a place I’d consider returning to.

Service is phenomenal, food came out quick and tasted delicious. The portions were also good size for the price and the decore was beautiful. The chairs were comfortable and the tables were set up in a way that each one got their privacy.
