Really cool atmosphere right across from the ocean. Food was excellent! I had shrimp and grits, which is a favorite dish. I love the Cajun touch to the shrimp and grits. I wanted to finish it, but was so full I had to stop. Great meal!

The shrimp burger was awesome. My husband has the lobster and crab salad tacos. They were really good too. There was live music when we arrived. A little loud but we were seated right next to him. It was a very nice warm evening and the windows were open so it was quite pleasant.

We’ve been here multiple times and tried several things on the menu. The food is always just okay.
We continue to return because we like the atmosphere & local music.
I’d still recommend it, but you should know that the food is nothing to write home about.
Things I would recommend:
-Raw Oysters: My fav thing on the menu. They are the BIGGEST oysters I’ve ever seen, but the price is steep. (About $3/ea)
-Crab Drip
-Muscles & Clams appetizer
-Tacos are good, but they’d be better if the tortilla was heated
Things I would NOT recommend:
-Margarita
-Seafood Mac n cheese (sounds better than it tastes. Trust me )
-Ribs (tastes like processed meat & dry)

On our last day visiting Holden Beach, we ordered Castaways for dinner and got it to go. Our food was very good and the prices were also great. We had a Pretzel appetizer to start and it was great. For entrees, we had Almond Crusted Tilapia, Buffalo Chicken Tacos, Steamed Shrimp and Shrimp & Grits. Everything was great and we would definitely come back!

Had the pimento cheese burger and the mahai mahai jerk sandwich. Both were tasty. Great service. The only negative was the seating space was a little tight. Overall, a good experience and we’ll be back.

We enjoyed a great dinner and cocktails here when celebrating a 21st birthday. Castaways has our favorite Oyster Stew and so many delicious salad choices. We had steamed shrimp and grouper as well. We love the open air dining area. It’s always a great choice when visiting Holden Beach.

I have always had a good experience here. Some of the hostesses could be friendlier but our waitress this most recent time was one of the nicest waitresses I’ve ever had, I so wish I had caught her name! She was so great and helpful. The food was good and I like how they have a wide variety of options since my fiance doesn’t like seafood. Very good drinks as well!

An outstanding restaurant, service and food were great. Maryland crab cakes were delicious. Our server, Nikki provided us service that was above and beyond expectations, she was the very best, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Lobster Bisque and oysters on the half shell were perfect. We will definitely return soon.

Wonderful place. Always have a great time here. Great food, great service great atmosphere. Our bartender KiKi was amazing she was on point. The food was awesome. I highly recommend going here when you are on the island its a must.

The process of getting through the host and waitress were the only tough obstacles to getting this good food.
Host will make you feel like you showed up unexpectedly and that she didn’t work at a restaurant.
Not sure if the waitress was new to the restaurant business, but drinks didn’t get get refilled unless you asked, empty appetizer plates, beer bottles, mix drink glasses didn’t get removed unless there was absolutely no more room to stack your fresh meal on top of it.
I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a pleasant experience, but you’ll have to make it through the gauntlet if you’re looking for good food.
