However, I was disappointed to wait an hour and a half for my food, ultimately having to request it to go. Additionally, I observed that the bartender seemed to prioritize regular customers over new ones. As a fellow business owner, I believe there’s a great opportunity to enhance the customer experience by ensuring all patrons receive equal attention
This time, I brought a coworker with me because I had told them how great this spot was. Frankly, after this experience, I’m actually a little embarrassed.
I was served by Tonya, and from the start, her attitude toward guests felt dismissive. I ordered a drink and some food. When she delivered my meal, she saw my drink was empty and said, “Can I get you another?” I said yes, and she responded, “I’ll go grab that,” but never returned. When I asked another staff member about it, I was told she had gone on break.
The food was disappointing as well. My fries were completely soggy, and I wasn’t brought any condiments. I specifically asked for blue cheese but never received it—no ketchup, no ranch, nothing. I also asked for my burger to be cut in half, and instead of having it cut in the kitchen, she handed me a dull knife. To top it off, my appetizer came out after my entrée, which made the meal feel disorganized and rushed.
Throughout all of this, Tonya was repeatedly on her phone—texting while guests were clearly waiting for service. I’m not overly strict about phone use at work, but when it starts interfering with guest experience, it becomes a serious issue and reflects poorly on the entire restaurant.
This experience was far from the standard I’ve come to expect here. I truly hope this was just an off day, because I’ve always enjoyed coming in. I’m sharing this not out of frustration, but because I genuinely care about this place and want to see it continue to succeed with the level of service and professionalism that first made me a fan.
Very relaxed atmosphere with more of a local crowd.
The food was great. I ordered a BLT on white and it was very tasty with the potato chips they make. (Lots of crispy bacon.)Thank goodness light on the pepper, and they brought ranch to the table too which I dipped the chips in and took out the rest of the heat.
My husband ordered a burger and fries.
The service was super and quicker than expected given that they are understaffed. My drink was delicious.
They are very popular here in Johnstown. We have stopped by a couple of other times on the weekend in prior months and it’s crowded with no tables available.
Either way, that’s not a real sports bar. A real sports bar doesn’t ignore patrons’ reasonable requests. They should remove the “Sports Grill” from their name. I’ll choose the other places that actually run their business like a real sports bar. Just putting this out there so other fans like me can make more informed choices on which establishments to spend our money and time at.
