This place is an absolute gem tucked away in the downtown tunnel at McKinney & Travis St. They use real mesquite wood giving their burgers, BBQ and breakfast tacos that smoky flavor. The owner Sam let me take a peak in the kitchen and I was blown away – REAL mesquite wood logs smoldering (not pellets). This place hands-down has the best burgers, best breakfast tacos and even offers fish and salads for you vegetarians!

They offer several kinds of breakfast tacos for breakfast (until 10:30 am) and a lunch menu that includes salads, quesadillas, burgers, and seafood (with an emphasis on catfish). It has a relatively spacious dine-in area compared to most restaurants in the tunnels, though the place is a bit haphazardly decorated by random Houston jerseys interspersed with old Life magazine covers and photos (with almost all of the above being poorly framed and many showing water damage).

Tried their Mexican breakfast taco with hash browns. The service was quick. Flour taco was stuffed with scrambled whole eggs, jalapenos and onions. Sauces were good too. Hash brown was a patty, which tasted fresh. Food was served hot and tasted good. The manager (owner) lady asked me, how the food was and friendly with other customers. Will definitely return for breakfast and will try their lunch menu too.

I had the mushroom Swiss burger and onion rings. The burger was good; the meat wasn’t anything special, it’s flavor didn’t really stand out, the toppings were great, and the sourdough bun was awesome. The meat was a little more dry than I normally like. The onion rings were great! The service was fast and friendly. There was no line when I went, but my lunch was a little bit after the typical lunch rush. The restaurant is pretty dimly lit, which is a little annoying, and the bare concrete floors don’t quite have the industrial look that they were maybe going for.
